First Crimea, next Ukraine?

Has Putin got the balls? Will he use the EU's vaccination arguments as a distraction?

Like a big jigsaw puzzle, the Chinese are getting more and more brave sending aircraft into Taiwanese airspace too. Would that stretch NATO too thin with the yanks obvious more concerned with events in Taiwan than the Ukraine.

Grayzone, really?

I'm surprised at you R00fie1.

A blog which denies China's campaign of cultural and demographic genocide in Xinjiang.

Its founder Max Blumenthal frequently appears as a commentator on Russian state-affiliated news outlets including RT and Sputnik.

Blumenthal has increasingly become a Chinese state media darling, giving interviews with Chinese state broadcaster CGTN and the Chinese tabloid Global Times. He often claims that evidence of crimes against humanity in Xinjiang is exaggerated or manufactured as part of a U.S. government attempt to discredit China.

Im sure Putin has the balls for Ukraine... the question is do NATO have the balls to put up a fight.... Lets face it he took the Crimea without NATO even batting an eyelid.

China is a whole different kettle of fish.... its not the aircraft you need to watch its the ships... They have draft 1000's of "coastguard" vessels to test the borders and they are doing so hundreds of times a day. Its a deliberate attempt to weaken the region and they are hoping one of the other players gets stretched so thinly that they make a mistake and open fire.

In my line of work we are starting to see vessels changing course to avoid the South China Sea as the Chinese vessels are not using VTS and its running the risk of collisions.

Are the numerous man made islands that the Chinese are building causing issues too? I know they aren't replicated on any maps, only photographs from US spy planes.

Sure I read the wall he said he was going to take down hasn't been taken down yet. In fact work has began on it again. 👀

What does Joe do? Focus on Ukraine or Taiwan?
As far as I know Biden never said he would take down the wall. He said we wouldn't lay another brick or words to that effect. If you can find any report where he's quoted as saying he'll take the wall down please point it in my direction.

Work hasn't begun on the wall again. If you had any knowledge of construction contracts you'd realise the difficulties in terminating an $11bn contract for convenience part way through and the financial penalties of doing so.
As far as I'm aware, money has been sanctioned to plug gaps in the existing structure not to extend it.

I’m not sure it’s wise for Putin to get involved further in Ukraine.

Crimea was a popularity boost for the regime here and that’s as much down to the history of the peninsula as anything else, previously part of the Russian empire where Russian blood has been spilt in several battles, so there is a connection there and the annexation was seen by many as a good thing, a historical righting.

However, the war in eastern Ukraine hasn’t been as popular and Putin himself doesn’t have the popularity that many assume in the west. The Navalny protests showed that there could be a genuine opposition and people are aware of the corruption. That’s not to say he’s unpopular of course, but things can and do change very quickly in Russia, so whilst a bit of sabre rattling and propagandising against NATO/Ukraine/the West is normal, further major military involvement in Ukraine might not sit so well. Remember he’s fighting ideological battles on several fronts with plans for closer integration with a Belarus that’s currently being shunned by the West and with Lukashenko isolated he may now need an ally after usually playing a good game with Russia and west. Also, things are bubbling in Georgia. Putin has a lot of plates spinning... also Russia and China may cooperate here and there but they’re playing their own long games and China has certainly being poking into what Russia sees as its own geopolitical sphere, so don’t count on them being too cosy.

They are all in the same region so its not brilliant... but at least they don't move and they show up well on radar and with the naked eye. They were also built on Atols and Shoals which are on charts.

The ships they are using are glorified fishing vessels and are almost impossible to see.

Funny enough the main reason our new Aircraft carrier and her carrier group are deploying to the region on her maiden voyage is to conduct freedom of navigation through the area

Spratly Islands. China is building on them and I think Malaysia and Taiwan have some presence, but there’s also claims by Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei, not sure if Indonesia have claimed too. So very complicated, the US and allies sail past the areas of Chinese control with flags flying high.

None of that [illiterate remarks about Max Bluementhal] stands up to factual scrutiny.
Which media platforms he appears on is irrelevant.
The use of derogatory term "darling" is patronising and ignorant.

Max provides excellent journalism on denial of Palestinian rights by the Zionisat apartheid state of Israel - which you wont find the BBC or large Capitalist media raising hysteria and faux outrage about.

The United Kingdom has been complicit in genocide against the Palestinians since 1948.
The genocide against a captive population is a war crime - with the complicity of the British Government and arms supplied by the Israeli - owned firm Elbit Systems - which "field - tests" its weapons on the Palestinians. These are made in Oldham, Bristol, Shenton, Brighton and Birmingham.

Before anyone conflates criticism of Israeli Apartheid and Genocide with anti-semitism, I strongly suggest you access the Jewish Voice for Labour website:
....and understand that being anti-apartheid is not being a jew-hater. Israel does not represent all Jews. The voices of Jews who dont feel "uncomfortable" about BDS and the Anti-Apartheid Movement is never published - because it attacks the establishments support for the last colony in the Middle East.
Jewish Voice for Labour exists to fight genocide in Palestine.

Ukraine isn't a member of NATO.
