Labour reinstates Jeremy Corbyn

When did the following recent leaders make the Labour Party "electable" ?

Neil Kinnock

John Smith

Margaret Beckett

Harriet Harman

Ed Milliband

Ive been round long enough to know that the "keeping the Tories in power" assertion is a red herring and a lie: it suits those who ultimately promote the vested interests of the rich and powerful - those who believe that they can manage Capitalism better than the Tories themselves.

None of them did. But Starmer does.

Corbyn very publicly undermined the Labour leaderships response to the report, he was asked to retract and refused.

He is not anti-semitic, that was established, however he was still leader of the party and must therefore be accountable for it. His response added fuel to the fire and left Labour open to attack from all side, which could have so easily been avoided by Corbyn.

Keir Starmer is well with his right to withhold the whip pending a full apology for the damage his comments caused at a time Labour could have drew a solid line under this saga.

I cannot understand the Corbyn love in. He is yesterdays man, a dead parrot.

Move on .
Even if you agree with his policies you have to agree he was a terrible leader and would have been a worse prime minister than Johnson. Corbyn is an always will be a leader of protests and causes rather than a country, government or serious political party.

Yes. you were blaming Corbyn for the election result. If you read the report you would realise that the right of his own party, right to the top, were conspiring to lose the election and that they were actively not dealing with AS complaints.
You believe every pro Corbyn report and fake news any against him . There is a hairs breath between the far left and far right.

"Discredit the left and admit you're a raging antisemite and we'll take you down off the rack Jeremy"

Plenty of first time Tory voters in Redcar did so specifically because of Corbyn.

I'm not sure a different leader would have won the election for Labour, but I do think a different leader would have lost it by less.

2017 was an absolutely shambolic Tory campaign, and even though it was an utter failure compared to what May was hoping for, they still won.

Can't speak for others, but for me it's because I'm not a "labour supporter", I'm a socialist. If the Labour party represents the same interests as the tories then why should I care which one is in government and which in opposition?

Magic. Tory socialism. What a time to be alive. No wonder why we have never had (or never will have) a socialist government in my lifetime.

The Labour Party, under Corbyn, flirted with getting a pure Socialist Government in power. It failed. Now we have two choices:

1. Back Starmer, get the current Labour Party elected
2. Fight about Corbyn and moan about how the Labour Party aren't socialists.

Chose option 1, get into power and try and get Socialist policies through, or chose Option 2, get another 5 years of Tory.

Or you could chose option 3 - take Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell etc and form a new Socialist party. You could take the tens of thousands of new members with you too. But you know you can't do this as it would fail. You need the party and the party needs you. Work together FFS.............

With option one, since being elected as leader which socialist policies has Starmer indicated he supports?

I would absolutely take this. Dream outcome. Sadly the SCG are too cowardly.

Dream on. Even if Starmer had a chance of winning an election, were he to do so it'd just be used as evidence that Labour has to punch the left to be popular. However tory Starmer is in opposition, you can be certain he'll be more so if ever in power.

Interesting.

Option 1 - Dream on
Option 3 - Dreamy

Option 2 it is! More infighting!! That'll teach them Tories. That'll get Starmer elected. That'll unite the Party. No lads, it'll just get the Tory part yet another term of Government despite cocking up Brexit and Covid. Nice one.

There is a Option 4

The centrists and the Blairites stop going out of their way to purge the party of anyone from the left and genuinely attempt to unify it.

The centrists and the Blairites stop going out of their way to manage to purge the party of immature idealists anyone from the left, and genuinely attempt to unify it finally make them electable.

There you go - corrected it for you

Suggest you go for Option 3

Nothings more electable than centrists and Blairites. Just ask Prime Minister Swinson and her Change UK coalition partners. It's why remain won at a canter and you never hear anything about Scottish independence these days.
