Boro fan recorded making racist gesture at Leicester

Ridiculous that anyone is even trying to defend this - it is a racist gesture along with her clearly shouting monkey. No significant investigation needed.

Life ban. Referral to police to investigate -> hopefully resulting in some kind of community education order.

Our fans need to do a better job of calling out the behaviour at away games. Drugged up fans more interested in picking a fight with opposition fans/each other is more than a tiny minority.

Tried to call out some Racism once - nearly got lamped - now mention stuff to stewards but they aren't interested.

Went to a couple of basketball games in the US a few weeks back. Almost everything football fans hate - but genuine great fun having non violent back and forth with the opposition fans in the row behind us.

I'd like her to meet some of our own fans, face to face, and say to her “go on then, do that again and let's see what happens now, eh?! “
Fighting alleged racism with violence towards women?

I get your point.. but everyone needs to be a bit smarter here.

This is definitely an emotive topic, but I’m not sure that Newy is trying to downplay the indefensible (by which I presume you mean racism). I think he is saying there’s a small chance this might not be a racist incident and an investigation should be thoroughly conducted before a pile on is started.
Exactly, but it’s a fair to suspect the woman is ignorant racist making that gesture.

It’s fair to suspect.. but not fair to totally condemn. and certainly not fair to drag a 10 year kid into the situation to score internet brownie points.

The club need to make the strongest possible statement of where they stand on racism. Firstly, lifetime ban for this pond life. Secondly, reinstate the knee gesture for the team. I understand why our previous black captain withdrew our participation on the grounds that it's a token gesture. But all gestures are tokens. And not taking the knee emboldens that repulsive section of our fan base to reason that 'we don't do that here' and boo teams that do. Taking the knee would be the clearest message to the racists: it's you who are different and you who are not welcome anywhere near this club.
I’ve said before although not an excuse whatsoever to Neanderthal thinks but the club certainly hasn’t helped in their not just mixed but down right confusing message towards this.

It’s a bad look that we basically ignore this on away soil and when asked why it’s even more confusing esp when we have loaners that don’t know what to do.

Time for clear guidance.

I’ve already stated my opinion based on my first impression earlier - appears racist and disgusting. Hopefully the police and football club now deal with this swiftly.

It happens every single time a Boro fan does anything wrong and it's reported on here, he jumps in and tries to make out that it's not that bad and that everybody is overreacting.

A woman caught on camera hurling abuse and calling someone a monkey whilst doing the gesture is a cut and dry case and even then it's getting deflection.

If she isn’t being racist shouting monkey and making a monkey gesture, then I don’t know what is.

I’m not convinced she doesn’t say the n word at the end either.
