Name the best ever all time Boro side from riverside era ( with a twist )

Valdes

Reiziger (I wanted to put Viv here but don't think I can)
Southgate
Pallister
Ziege

Gascoigne
Robson (feels like a bit of a cheat here so should be Ince, with Parlour on the bench)
Mendieta

Juninho

Hasselbaink
Viduka

(not much width)

Bench

Given
Boksic
Ince
Woodgate
Karembeu
Zenden
Merson

(yes, no Rav or Emerson - sorry!)

Top team that

Agree that Woodgate was better than Pallister at his prime. At his best, Woodgate was the best I've seen here, apart from Maddren.
Woody had one amazing season here. The rest of his career he was a very good player but so was Pally. I think what tips it for people is that Woody played for Real Madrid 13 times, but look at what Pally won in comparison, both trophies and caps. I think had Woody not had that very short-lived/unsuccessful spell at Madrid, people would say Pally wins this hands down career wise.

My 1-11 with Covid permitted 9 on the bench.

Valdes (at Barca) (Schwarzer on bench)
Reiziger (at Barca) (Craggs on the bench)
Ziege (Bayern) (Hardwick on the bench)
Maddren, Pallister (Man U). (Woodgate (Leeds) and Southgate (Boro) on bench)
Souness, Robson (Man U) , (Murdoch (Celtic) on bench)
Mannion, Juninho (Gascoigne (Spurs) on bench)
Clough, Viduka (JFH (Chelsea) and Boksic (Marseilles) on bench)

If you're doing all-time surely John Wark has to be in?

Surprised nobody has selected Downing to bring a bit of balance to the team, him and Ziege would have been a great combination on the left attacking wise, not so sure defensively though.

Apologies - didn't read properly, so mine was all time.
I have adjusted to be Riverside only.

Surprised there's not much favour for Merson, although the competition is tough to be fair

Branco ahead of Ziege for me, particularly if you're playing 4 at the back. I'd say left back was actually Ziege's third best position, best at wing back then good in midfield. Defensively suspect at left back.

I'd argue Yakubu over Boksic for the bench. Yakubu was consistent for years banging in goals every season, as we know Boksic was immense when he was on his game but he wasn't consistent at any point in his career and had some very low scoring seasons in Serie A. He's kind of a player who it's hard to say exactly when his prime was.
