Dan Barlaser

100% agree with this.

If he could play like this even 60-80% of the time you could live with the defensive frailties. He's been so good on the ball. But it's more like 10-20% of the time.

I know you think otherwise, but he has been good week in week out...although it sounds like he was especially good today. A couple of errors, but he sets up the vast majority of our attacking play. Against Port Vale for instance, his throughball st up Howson and then another for Rogers to set up Crooks. Glad you've at least appreciated his play today.
He does so much that's simple, subtle and unfussy.... the little wall pass with Howson last week that gave Howson the space to set things up for a goal. Happened so quick, and yes, it was a two yard pass... but crucial.

He doesn't play anywhere near that level week in week out. Nowhere near.

If he did, I would accept the sub standard defensive side of his game because I would be able to see how the positives outweigh the negatives. But he doesn't. We'd be lucky if he plays like that one in five matches currently.

Agree Diego, can't knock anyone today, superb performance from everyone.
How many teams could compete with so many injuries?
We should be proud of the team yknight outstanding, simply outstanding

I'd say the same about your appreciation/understanding of the beautiful game. You were very good today ... prolific as usual .... and less error prone than normal. Keep it up.

He is our best passing midfielder.
Very very underrated by some posters on this site. he always looks forward, starts the play, and looks for the killer pass, sometimes risky but every team needs a forward thinking midfielder.
Has been asked to play deeper role of late, just in front on the back four, which I think is not his best position, but his passing skills shone today, and his linking up with the forward line was 1st class.

He was excellent today but his his performances have been improving throughout the season. Getting better and better for me which isn't surprising as he learns more about the players around him, when they are making the runs etc.
Silvera kept making those runs in behind during the 1st half, which suited Barlaser.

The ball he played through to him with the outside of his foot was a thing of beauty.

I wish I'd been able to get up for the game today (had to collect Christmas orders). It would have been nice to see Barlaser, Silvera and Rogers demonstrating just why the people who thought they weren't good enough/should be out of the door etc last week, were just plain wrong. They're all good and Silvera/Rogers will only get better as they build confidence and experience.
UTFB!

I'll admit, I've been unimpressed by Barlaser in recent games but he was excellent today, and he's definitely good enough to be a squad player for us at least. It's all about building a strong squad.

We just need to be patient with Rogers and Silvera. They played well today, they've also frustrated us at times this season but we have to accept that they're not the finished article and are still developing their games.

The rediculous number of times you hear " one or two misplaced passes " .. he must have more touches in the last month than anyone else.
If he didn't misplace a pass or two .and was 6ft 2 and has a 12 second 100 metre sprint , defensively strong and still had that passing range ... He'd be 15 million +.
He bossed that first half , he doesn't shirk responsibility, and obviously cares enough to get up from his injury.
He's a bargain of a squad player for 1.5 mill
