Based on the fact Chuba is 28 and only had one good season in his career and Archer is 21 and impressed everywhere he's been and seemingly improving exponentially, I think Archer is the better choice.
His mobility and pace up front was as imprtant as Chuba's play in the second half of the season. I would guess that their goals/min ratio over the season wouldn't be too dissimilar either.
I do worry that Chuba will struggle to recapture the form he has shown this season especially as he is certain to receive additional attention from opponents. He did drop off in the last few weeks of the season.
Akpom is 27 right now.
Archer's only had two half season loans in league football, the second at a significantly better performing team, not sure we've seen enough of him to say whether he's improving exponentially or not yet.
Akpom only went 2 games without scoring going in to the play-offs, and one of them was in a match where we played with 10 men for half of it.
Obviously he was largely kept quiet in the play-offs themselves, but then Archer was even quieter in them.
Akpom had a better goals per minute ratio: 1 every 111 compared to 1 every 125.
Archer had a better goal involvement ratio: 1 every 81 minutes compared to 1 every 104 minutes.
Both were superb for us last season.
