Anna Turley

Genuine question @exiledinboro, are you ok? There's generally a level of political debate on this board where things do get quite heated but seldom is the line crossed. Questioning the intelligence of other posters who are quite clearly very intelligent isn't a great look. I think you're better than that.

Lodger

Have you had a drink?

Then

I voted for my local Labour candidate, who did you vote for?

And then....

I’ve asked the question 4 times who you voted?

I can tell you without you asking I voted Corbyn in 2017 & 2019 and don’t regret it

If you’re going to post you abandoned Corbyn after voting him in 2017 I’m not sure what your local representatives has to do with it

But then we don’t share the same IQ
But he did ask you. Had you had a drink?

You can’t of because your own twitter page says you abandoned Labour after voting in 2017

Massive IQ move saying "you can't of". Up there with using been instead of being. Big brain stuff.

You definitely don't share the same IQ though so you had that part right.

I may be wrong, but his posting style and aggression comes across as very similar to same_as_before who was banned last year.

Turley showed herself to be one of the better MP’s over Brexit. Most MP’s were spectacularly uninformed on 23/6/16 and an awful lot were still poor even by Nov 2019. Every single Brexit MP and MEP falls in to that bracket but so did quite a lot of remain or non commital ones. Not Turley. She was pretty much up to speed by late 2017 and what’s more she stuck to her guns for what was right despite knowing the personal political cost it was likely to have for her.

Imagine that, an MP who put country before herself.
So she was top of the class in the ‘how long is a piece of string debate’ Brexit wasn’t a binary option.. it was made that way by folks who had the most to gain from it being that way. Turley put herself before her party and her constituents.. her and many others lost their seats as a result.

Lots of good, honest, hard working people being made out to be something they’re not.. not sure what Labour is now or what it is supposed to be. It doesn’t sit well with me the amount of dishonesty and treachery that is actively encouraged and promoted.

We’ve moved along way from moderate easy to deliver policies as enjoyed by our Scandinavian brothers and sisters..

We’ve had 'The Conservatories' - with none of the benefits of being inside or outside of Europe. Now we have 'The Purgatories' - forever in limbo between public backed bailouts and rampant tax breaks and giveaways to private entities.. and it doesn’t seem to matter what colour the rosette is.

the least palpable?

I will for for the candidate that speaks for me and let the chips land where they may. if Labour wants to force candidates on us that are not representative of our values.. then that also is a choice.
Follow Anna Turley on twitter - Even though no longer an MP Anna Turley has never stopped speaking up on behalf of local people. She is constantly trying to hold Houchen and Jacob Young to account but also has continued to offer as much support and/or experience as an ex MP can to community groups in her patch. Very hard working still for ordinary people - the contrast to Young and Houchen is frightening.

I didn't agree with the en masse Shadow Cabinet resignations* over Corbyn, but they knew the guy and some of the people around him and they were proved absolutely right that he would be a disaster, I'm afraid.

Turley was right about Brexit and right about Corbyn. Her judgement was sound on the two biggest calls she had to make. She's a decent person.

* I'd exempt Starmer from that. His resignation was Brexit specific and came after the others already resigned, which in itself changed the calculation.

As for those saying we could have had a softer Brexit. That is misremembering. It was never offered.

Hmm.. I'm not convinced. Throwing a lot of shade around regarding the Dorman Long Tower.. when she did nothing about it when she had the chance.

When the bar is set at Young and Houchen I don't think the answer is Turley and Jacobs. We need to do better.. much better.

The Dorman Long Tower was on Jacob Young's watch on 19th September 2021.

Well said and absolutely true. I follow Turley and can confirm this.

How many wanted to keep the Dorman Long Tower and why should she campaign if there wasn't a lot of support for it?

I don't know the numbers, I'm just asking the question.
Plenty of waggy finger aimed at Young and Houchen over twitter about it..
so enough support for it to jump on that bandwagon.

Support the move to have it listed either in or out of office?
Am pretty sure she did support the move. And remember it was listed only to be only de-listed 2 days later by Nadine.
So, remember the sequence; the tower was listed and then the listing was reversed by Nadine Dorries, immediately on coming into office.
