If we'd got Warnock instead of Pulis..

I love Neil Warnock as a manager, I posted 3 years ago he should have been here before Monk but he's here now & doing a cracking job
If he does keep us in the championship he will have done an incredible job & as good as anything he's achieved his CV

Fingers crossed we can keep him next season if he still fancies it. Either way if he keeps us up he'll have done very well given how demoralised and out of sorts Woody had the squad.

I've no doubt we'd have been beaten at both Stoke and Milwall with Woody at the wheel.

I do think the main problem is we keep flip flopping from managers who want to play "open attacking" football and pragmatists.

Ignore the people whining when we are successful, that's just in some people's nature. Go for the pragmatist every time.
Robson's juninho team relegated. His more pragmatic teams were steady in midtable. McLaren was far from the defensive coach people portrayed him as but he wasn't gung ho. Cup win. Europe.
Southgate comes in. All the talk is of arsenal lite. Relegation.
Karanka a pragmatist immediately turns us into a top class championship outfit and gets us promotion. Using Mowbrays outstanding signings in a much tighter set up he has us at the top instead of losing like they did under mogga.
Do we learn? No. We bring in some chump who thinks you can play three up front when Gibson bottles it in the prem.

Not only is it hugely detrimental to squad building. It is harder to find success, as good managers who play attractive football are far more in demand.

When the money comes in, that's the time to buy the fancy Dan's who will give you good football through the quality of their play rather than any form of progressive tactics.

If it weren't for monk I would be convinced that Gibson deliberately gave managers who are more attack minded a chance when we're on a financial downcycle. It makes fans more amenable to a couple of seasons of scrapping seeing as they aren't having to watch bewildering dross anymore. Let's face it, if Warnock was appointed in the summer, Gibson would have been slaughtered.
