I've never seen oway the lads and on my silk scarf in the 70's it read Howay.Yep. Always Oway and not Haway.
Spelt howay/haway but in Teesside I think people generally drop the H unlike our 2 lots of friends up the road.I've never seen oway the lads and on my silk scarf in the 70's it read Howay.
Haway the lads in a teesside accent ,& it was sang as ganin years ago, but all songs are nicked & adapted
That’s the one. Good find. Would like to see it back. I’m sure RF and 12th man can do a nice South / North stand version.
It was sang in the build up to games just before the start or the kick off from memory….Definitely sang in the Holgate in the '60's
"Boro Boys We Are Here Whoooooa" was sang in a pub at QPR 3/4 years back, admittedly by only a few of us 60 year olds!It was sang in the build up to games just before the start or the kick off from memory….
Also gone is ; boro boys we are here whoaaaaa…..
We need a retro singing matchday from the 12th man with these two songs and also
‘Gerrrr into em’ and fcuk em’ up’
Haven’t heard that since I was 10 !
You’ll never walk alone was. But if that was too it must have been before my time,Wasn’t it painted as “H’way the lads” on The Holgate roof at one point ??
I always sang it as away the lads though
Not sure how comfy I'd feel singing we all agree Carrick is better than MowbrayIt was sang in the build up to games just before the start or the kick off from memory….

This is embarrassingDefinitely a Mackem thing after watching this, apparently already deleted by Sunderland’s official account.
Yes and all the better for being simple. We have had some horrendous chants the last few years. Starting from the Karanka days and carrying on today. Written no doubt by budding Ed Sheeran'sBack in those days the player chants were a lot more simple. Go Gary, Gary...Gary, Gary Gary Gary Hamilton. Or if struggling for a chant, just their name followed by 2 claps - Bernie, Bernie Slaven (clap clap) repeat.
