Supporters Forum Meeting - Agenda Items Request

Primus - we have been asked to a discussion this summer looking at ways of possibly extending the GRFZ - am sure you are aware it is a special zone with lots of safeguarding in there. The concourse is a safe family zone with entertainment and education activities and even the food/drink is different to the rest of the ground. So, it isn't straight forward as providing extra seats - it is also how do you extend the special environment for families behind the scenes and before and possibly after the game?
But Rob isn't that going to be too late for next season so it's yet another season of waiting?

It's the same as with the membership scheme, ifs, buts and maybes but no actual solid offerings from the club.

Why can't it be brought up now when there's time to do something about it before the next season starts?!

As others have said the pricing model works, I don't need to sit in a particular place I'm happy to sit where I always have but have my son with me and my dad.

Yup, the seat next to me, in the north, is empty and my son is desperate to go. Why can’t the pricing model just be extended elsewhere? We’re never going to get into that zone regardless if I already have a season ticket or I buy a walk up for us.
Buying us both tickets at the current price scheme is unrealistic.

Write a letter to the club explaining.. you might get a discount or something. Maybe not to the extent of the family zone, but it’s worth asking. They’ll have your ticket history and friends and family etc. Shy kids get nowt

You don't have to extend the area, which is a designated family area, which presumably costs the club additional money to organise; you just extend the pricing model.

It seems pretty obvious that the offering is a great success, with it being sold out. Why would you not try a version of it elsewhere?

The fact is that if you have kids starting at say 7 years old in GFRZ, all things being considered there's a 10 years or so waiting list to get in there. The safe family zone line is a silly argument unless you think it's not safe for kids in other areas of the ground.Unravel -

No. I don't think so. It is the club that have asked for the discussion and it will be at the end of March.

The meeting clashes with the Stockton North Labour candidate hustings so I can't be there.

Can you please ask the forum to approach the club about scrapping the elitist ticketing system?

Humpty - we have a meeting being arranged in March where we hope to discuss pricing and Family Zone and Memberships.
CtC - the priority scheme only seems elitist to those that don't go to many away games - they imagine it is the same faces every time and imagine that those same faces only go to games to collect points for themselves and their families. In fact the numbers on maximum points are pretty low. But many fans enjoy going to the majority of games away as well as all at home. They are not an elite. Nearly every game goes down to General Sale - so why does that make it elitist - if anything it is fairer to give those people that have devoted so much time, effort and money into supporting their team first pick at the very few games that are high demand.

In my experience the free drink in the last couple of years has been very quick
I had a long chat with the man responsible for all the bars and catering in the concourses.
He said without doubt the biggest barrier to quicker service was the administration of the free drink offer. It was a systems issue. around the scanning and payment. Quick if all you get is your own drink using your SC, but a round containing some SC's is slower.
The bloke I spoke with was a smashing fella. He talked about the difficulty of sourcing and retaining people skilled enough to serve. It is a problem across Hospitality and the Boro jobs are occasional hours only. He stressed that he was not constrained by club budget and that the club were not impeding him.

It is clear however that the kit they have is not conducive to quick service and they have a problem with staff capabilities. They never seem capable of multi-tasking. The taps should always be flowing and they are not. The processing of taking payment is very slow. The queueing system is poor. Maybe the soft drinks should be vending machine only. They could sell so much more if they sorted the 20 minutes before kick off and the Half time period. Saying they've sold more than ever is just "tallest pigmy".
Maybe if the Free Drink offer was only available until 45 minutes before kick off and then at full time would help?
It would certainly help with the payment delay. Could anybody really complain about that?

That doesn't fit the agenda.

Obviously wants first dibs on Sunderland away, but doesn't want to put in the miles and money to reach 200+ priority points to qualify.

Not me, I didn't want tickets for the Sunderland game.

Rob bemoans people having to miss the Easter games on the other thread due to work and young kids bring disappointed, which is fair enough, but the ticket scheme discriminates against the same people who have difficulties taking time off to travel long distances through work and family commitments. When it comes to the game they can attend there's no tickets for them, despite having the same club loyalty.

The system is therefore elitist.

So nothing on the artificial restriction of the GRFZ and how you can't move into it as a ST holder because it's sold out? Or anything on why it has to be limited to a certain area of the ground and we can't access the offer whilst continuing to stay where we've always sat?
The GRFZ is too cheap. They should not extend the offer or the area of the ground where it is available.
Cheaper Kids tickets all over the stadium and lower Match day prices is better than GRFZ.
Gives more choice and is not self constraining like the GRFZ.

The price increase the club has put forward can absolutely be justified. Even as it is it will not cover the elements of the club's cost base that have definitely been impacted by inflation. So take out Players wages and the cost of buying players (amortisation) and the value of the SC increase will not cover inflation on the rest of the cost base.
I would hope the Match day prices do not increase, thus narrowing the gap to SC prices by match especially on EB.

What about the only time it was genuinely needed last season when we had a home cup tie against Chelsea and season ticket holders were allowed to buy two tickets instead?

As controversial as that was at the time, in the end nobody really unfairly missed out. Thousands of tickets went on sale to anyone with 11+ points, helped by Chelsea returning most of their allocation.
