Fancy pog posting an inflammatory opening post
Well it depends how much it would cost him/the club to appoint this magical DoF.
Gibson has appointed 2 of Pogs choices, Pulis who bought tripe and bored us to tears, and now Warnock who seems to be bewildered. I hope he can fluke it with any luck. Its a good job we have Gibson, we`ll need him.
Surely not as much as chopping and changing managers every season. It’s worth a try because let’s face it. Whatever the current plan is at the moment isn’t working.
Loyalty, you know your football club . A rare quality.I can understand people's anger and why that may be directed at Gibson but I will always support Gibson whatever. He saved us from going under and I would much rather have a **t club than no club at all. He will have my lifetime support for what he did.
I dare say he might eventually go down that road, as his last throw of the dice to appease fans before he sells up. But I’m still not sure it will be the magic wand some think it will.
It may not be, but surely it’s worth looking into. As whatever is happening now is not working and the club is on a hell of a slippery slope. It’s really upsetting to see

Where has your thought about a Director of Football come from? I could not ever envisage a Peter Kenyon type in that role. I am not talking about that.
I am talking about someone to perhaps efficiently run the club on his behalf, Chairman, CEO position, with full authority while in post. A DoF is just an intermediary between manager and board, often former experienced football managers. We don’t need that.
Does anyone really believe this ? He’s putting 12 million of his own money in?Pumping a million pound a month

We made 130 million being in the prem
League One is exactly where Gibson deserves to be. He is the man that has overseen the fall from the Premier league to the verge of the 3rd tier.
Who else appointed Agnew? Who appointed Woodgate? Who allowed Monk to waste so much money?
Peter Kenton recommended Jose mourinho best mate basically the one appointment gibbo didn’t use the old pals act for and it worked. How did we get into the Prem?
So Peter Kenyon was putting all the money in to fund our PL promotion?Peter Kenton recommended Jose mourinho best mate basically the one appointment gibbo didn’t use the old pals act for and it worked.
Eh?
Mowbray, Karanka and Pullis. All did a job. Woodgate was an attempt to move the club in a different direction outside of the habitual failures who do the rounds with clubs like ours Warnock, Allardyce, etc. managers who had managed clubs more times than they really should and ultimately failed at every single one. The Woodgate thing failed but I think it was right to try it (maybe looking at Eddie Howe at Bmuff?) perhaps he allowed it to run too long but Gibson has always given his managers full backing and that includes time.
Did I say that?So Peter Kenyon was putting all the money in to fund our PL promotion?
What’s in that for Gibson though? Pumping a million pound a month in to something purely to make himself look incompetent?
Well look at the amount he has likely put in since 2006, look at the failures v successes that we know of, look at the likely ongoing financial cost to him perish the thought, with relegation that just gets worse. He would clearly own the club still. He would decide the Chairman. Maybe, just maybe, being a fan and so closely involved as such, and also the financial worry, clouds judgements when he tries to balance losses with change. I can’t imagine how difficult and personal that must be. He can’t ever be dispassionate about the team, he can’t ever seperate his financial worry. Nobody believes he has anything but the clubs best interests at heart. I believe Woody did too, but if something isn’t working you have to see the woods for the trees.
We all love Steve Gibson, we all want him to achieve and be successful, the issue as I see it is, the one real positive period we had since 2006 was under Karanka, that was when Kenyon was advising him as far as I can see, that can’t be a coincidence surely, now can it?
Hopefully, less pressure day to day, a better run club, greater financial stability Is in it for him. I accept there are no guarantees.
