Steve Gibson Deserves League One

You can’t continue to make incompetent decisions year in, year out and continue to get away with it.

He appointed our worst ever manager, with a bargain bucket coaching team and the same recruitment team that brought dross to the club for the last 5 years and then thought a competent manager could bail him out with 8 years to go.

It’s time he started looking for an investor.

Aye, they're queuing up to pump £1million a month of their own readies.
About time the players took a hard look at themselves.

In as much as his decision lead us to where we are then you are right Pog, he deserves league 1. I suspect it is frustration that is talking though. We will be fine, I believe, but the decision making process' haven't been the best and I don't believe it is in the managers appointments.

I think Southgate has made a good manager, I think Mowbray is competent, so was Karanka and whilst no one really liked Pulis he was also competent. The managers are not to blame. The constraints under which they have to work are the problem. I have been saying this for years.

Until you put the club up for sale or look for investors you’ll never know.

There’s been previous interest in investing but he’s rejected it at every occasion. Because he’s incredibly stubborn and refuses to relinquish his grip.

I don’t want Gibson to leave but I don’t want him to have 100% control, because the bloke has been clueless when it comes to running the football club since he lost the ability to outspend our rivals.
That may be true. But as I've said many times on here, if he appoints the wrong bloke to make the decisions (as other football clubs have done) he'll be crucified for that too, so I think he's just decided to save his money?

If he makes bad decisions, why would he get this decision right? He could ask the fans to vote for a DoF I guess.

We've made our own bed. You look at Brentford who've spent not much, and what they have spent they've funded from transfers out. Look at them go.

The fallacy has been since 2008 that we're somehow a "natural" Premier League team that's temporarily fallen on hard times. Thus the appointments and transfers have been ridiculous - done not because we should, but because we can. It's been like that since Robbo arrived. There's been no attempt to build a spine or an ethos through the club, certainly at least since Gareth took over. Want a striker? Go spend £12m on the bloke who no one else thinks is worth half that. Attacking midfielder? Here's £11m to spend on a lazy ********* who's dropped every other club he's been at in the ****. There's no plan. All the big talk of a new ethos, a desire to build the club from the floor up every off season and it's still not fixed. And here we are, hoping that a points deduction happens to save us from Shrewsbury away.

The squad is a complete and utter mess. Years of really **** poor investments have seen to that. Savile as an example, supposedly Millwall's best player yet they're 13 places above us!

I do wonder who the hell will be playing for us next season? Those wonderbuys from last summer, Dijksteel, Bola and Browne? Even that "back to basics" transfer policy didn't bloody work. Warnock will walk away if we go down, I'm sure. He doesn't need the hassle of what will have to be a major rebuild.

I genuinely don't know where we go from here. Even if we stay up - if - there's no way we'll be above halfway next season without major surgery.

To an extent I agree. As much as I respect Gibson, we've all been crying out for an experienced manager to take over from Wooodgate since early on in the season.

Nobody wanted Woodgate. Everybody aside from Gibson could see he wouldn't have what it takes to manage at this level. He should have gone after we lost those back to back games against Luton and Barnsley.

Pullis, Karanka and Mowbray were all "competent" managers and Colin is certainly "experienced", gambled with a new team with Woodgate but then a similar unproven team with Karanka was a success.

Lots of money available from Chinese investors as long as you are prepared to lose on demand. You may not have noticed, but we are experiencing an unprecedented economic down turn and you want investment?

We may go down but we'll still have a football club, we may lose some fans but they'll come back.

An absolute F*** up of epic proportions from Steve Gibson. Anyone with a brain could see Woodgate should never have been considered let alone appointed. So many bad transfers for big fee’s coming home to roost.

The club are getting what they deserve, seasons of incompetence, arrogance, appointments, transfers, jobs for the inept boys and sky high prices for one of the most deprived areas of the UK.

It absolutely stuns me that people are surprised it’s came to this.

We need a total rebuild.
Like when a unit starts to fail: bad habits. Cliques. Money.
Time to blow it apart and start a rebuild.
Forget who we have - they cant perform.
A sticking plaster on gangrene wont solve the problem.
Disgusting.

It's difficult to know Woodall, I am not in on meetings. However, either we have been very unlucky with appointments, or the structure at the football club is wrong and no manager could make a fist of it under the current leadership.

One example would be the scouting setup. I know that gems from the lower divisions are not easy to find before their quality is obvious, but we have stuck with the same scouting network for some time, and, let's be honest, have a squad of players worth, generally, less than we paid for them.

There seems to be a certain balance and complimentary factor missing from the squad also, if player A can do x and y but not z, you get player B who is great at z and pair them in defence, or midfield or wherever they play. It's joined up thinking when you put a squad together. We lack that.

My whole point is, manager after manager this board is full of criticism of each and every one of them, they had to go, they are not up to the job, no tactical nous - the list goes on. Is it really the managers are all crap?
