Virgin Media Increases

Did you schedule the termination? Or just threaten the termination?
Scheduled it and the retentions team made no attempt to contact us. We had 250 MB broadband, full TV package including movies, sport etc so it was an expensive package and we'd been subscribing for years.
Given the past posts on here about getting deals then I at least expected them to try and retain the business, but no, they were quite happy to let us go.

Brsk site says £20 a month for 9 months then £49 so 24 month contract works out at £38 a month on average
Was looking at the 500gb package - £16.50 for 6 months, £33 after. Much faster and much cheaper than the Virgin package I have now ......and will at least get some new kit.

What is the easiest method of cancelling virgin I moved to you fibre recently but don't fancy hanging on the phone for two hours to cancel VM is there a better way than on the phone

Apparently it’s through the online chat on the website, although it will still take a while and they will try their best to retain your custom. You could always tell them you’re leaving the country or moving in with someone who already has Virgin.

I'd have went, for a couple of months, and used mobile broadband, they would have gave in eventually.

It's just a game they play, but the retentions team are often flat out when major price changes happen, as everyone's trying the same thing.

Could have maybe range them back, giving an excuse that you need to retain the broadband for another couple of weeks to give your new supplier more time, or some other crap.

Could you have took the broadband down, at a lover level maybe, or just the broadband individually and got sky or BT for the TV? I think my mate did that.

Have a look for community providers. Down here in Dorset, I moved from BT (72MB) to FTTP gigabit with Jurassic Fibre. Best decision ever :)

Anyone any experience of price rises before your contract starts? I have signed up to Virgin but not getting installed until March. Will be very annoyed if they try and bump my price before I even start.

Sky have increased their sub rates to me - £2 per month for Sky Sports plus £2 for Sky Signature (not quite sure what this is, but probably their basic package). However great to have so much Championship football at present from them. About 9.5% price rise.

I am with Virgin, but have not been informed of price increase for my broadband. Is this something I missed or are they doing it in bite size chunks.

On another note got email from sky telling me that they where not like virgin increasing broadband prices mid contract and would be keeping same price and I was welcome to join.

Then got another email informing me my TV package was shooting up in price. Now need to call them

This is the new norm, expect every service you pay for to do this, because shareholders want their return on investment. This is what I received from 02 yesterday, chunts 1677091683324.jpeg

Got the same. Luckily my 2 year contract runs out in March and I'll be going Sim only. Had a top of the line brand new phone on contract every 2 years for about 20 years but the prices are just unjustifiable now. Phone is still good so will be saving £50pm compared to April's prices.

Not only the telecoms companies that are doing it though. My IPTV provider has said prices will be going up for renewals from April.

We’ve had the Sky email too, £10 per month total increase.

However at least it feels like Sky try to give you something in return eg free Paramount Plus, free Discovery Plus.

Even then; the best offers come from rejecting the retentions team offers and waiting for third line to contact you, but you must be opted into marketing for then to do so
This is absolutely correct. Just cancelled them myself. Told them it wasn't just about getting a better deal, but was sick of being taken for granted.

The second call I got from them they came up with a ridiculously good price, probably better than the deal I'm moving to. I just told them this wasn't an incentive, just further proof that they'd been taking the pïss previously and that I was leaving anyway.
