Well, I guess you've signed a full 25 man squad there.:)

Really can’t see us spending 15 mill on Gyokeres. As much as I would like to sign him I wouldn’t be spending that on him. Too much of a risk and if it goes wrong then we are ****ed.
I don't see him as a risk, he's probably the least risk of nay striker we could hope to buy.

The lad can clearly play, and he's tall, strong, quick and only 23. He got 17 goals last year, in a team who scored the same as us, and who finished 12th.

Also, we're meant to have a half decent defence, and he made us look like a bunch of morons, caused us more trouble than any other striker in the league.

He would be expensive mind, but if we sold Spence for 15m, and got him for 15m it would be incredible bueiness.

I don't think we could convince him to come here though, he's good enough for one of the top leagues.

We have to take a punt on someone who could get us 20 goals, if we don't then we won't go up, it's that simple.

I mean it’s a lot of money to spend on one position and if we don’t get promoted the fee will become a bit of a burden. I would like to think he will sell for less but who knows. I would be delighted if we sign him but I don’t see it.

Agree with this. I would like to see us get Will Keane in and Cameron Archer on loan. That strike force would be a statement of intent

I suppose anything is a gamble, but it's a small gamble to me, I see him as a prem level player, and could see him getting to Arnautovic sort of level and fairly similar sort of player, form what I've seen of him. He can score a wide range of goals too, which is important.

The good thing is, with him being young, even if it didn't work out, we could still get half of any fee back.

The Coventry fans don't seem to want to let him go, for any price, which says a lot.

I get that, and don’t get me wrong if I could sign 1 striker this summer for our level at an affordable price it would be him. But blowing 15 million pound on one player is something I just don’t see happening this season. I could be wrong. The reason I don’t see it happening as we need to sign a lot of players, not just 1 or 2.

I expect there has been some tough conversations between kieren Scott and wilder. I cringed when I heard Wilders statement of attitude over ability at the end of last season and I don't think it will chime with Scott either. I think its a big two fingers up at Scott's recruitment from the year before and a complete shift in recruitment policy. At least it's much cheaper for Gibson to buy graft rather than craft.

GK: Zander Clark
CB: Darragh Lenihan
LCB: Jack Clarke-Slater or Levi Colwill (loans)
LWB: Jamal Lewis (loan)
CM/ST: Scott Twine
ST: Gyokeres, Joao

I would consider Rhodes as a back-up option depending on whether his performance against us was a one-off or whether he can replicate it.
I wouldn't be looking to sell any of our key players if I can help it (Dijksteel, Fry, McNair, Jones, Tav). If Howson doesn't sign a new deal I think I would look to move McNair or Crooks into his position.
Naby Sarr and Harry Toffolo are definitely good options. I'm not convinced by Lewis, he may think he's too good for the Championship in which case I would look at Toffolo; he fits the mould of someone who has everything to play for.

I would hope to bring Gibson and Bilongo through from the U23s and have either Brynn or Hemming as third choice keeper.

Overall, there's plenty of Championship experience. All of the permanent signings are either approaching their peak or at it. Clake-Slater and Colwill are both players who know they need to make their next loan count. Lenihan would add some leadership. I suspect that transfer fees, signing on bonuses and agent fees means that lot would gobble up £20m pretty quickly. I wouldn't pay more than £7-8m for Gyokeres or Joao because we'll risk Assombalong syndrome where the fee becomes a burden. If we have to spend £10m+ for either of them, I wouldn't do it. Joao has confidence problems and had a horror spell last season while Gyokeres has only had one good season in the Championship and is at risk of second-season blues.

I don't know whether he'll go on loan again or not but Morgan Gibbs-White would be fantastic. Ryan Giles on loan from Wolves would also be an option.

I think you are spot on Andy.
I think he is good enough for top leagues, but I don't think he would start quite yet.
If he buys in that we are intent on top two and he sees what else we are after then I think he would come.
Get the deal done. A huge lift.

Joao will cost no more than £3m given he's in final year and Reading are in serious trouble. Gyokeres is worth way more and is a good shout at £15m. He will go massively up from there IMHO.
I'd absolutely love Gibbs-White but he will be back at Villa or in the Prem elsewhere. Much better than Tav or McGree.

Twine and Gyokeres would terrify any defence in the league. Plug a couple more gaps, mainly GK, CB and LWB with loans and add a bit of depth in the free market then we’d be in a great position to go for an automatic place.

Bazanu (loan)
Dijksteel Fry Colwill (loan)
Jones Crooks McNair Tav Giles (loan)
Twine (buy) Gyokeres (buy)

Blackman (free)
Wood Lenihan (free) Buchanan (free)
Stacey (buy) Payero Howson McGree Bola
Watmore Joao (buy)

Gyokeres would take up most of the Spence money, however I think we’d be able to lower the upfront cost by adding appearance, goal and promotion bonuses. Twine and Joao would cost around 5-6 mil for the pair.

If McNair goes then use that money to get Grimes from Swansea.
If Fry goes, move Lenihan into the starting 11 and bring in Helik (free).
If Tav goes, move McGree into the starting 11 and bring in Field (buy).
If Howson doesn’t re-sign then get Kilkenny (loan to buy).

The only area that worries me in this market is Wilder has had a terrible record with signing strikers.
I think we've gotta go all out get Gyorkes or Piroe, partner them with a lesser deal like Twine or João and have an experienced striker on the bench Rhodes/Gray. .
Think Watmore has enough credit in the bank to survive the cull

If we could get that quality of striker that would be amazing. I will be very surprised if we have the funds for that level of player investment.

It’s not just up front we need to strengthen. People are hoping that Spence will go for 15 million plus but that is far from certain.

Window opens a week today hopefully we can do business early. We have two forwards on our books the manager is unlikely to want and they have to be moved on as well.

Semenyo been given permission to leave his international camp to complete a deal. Wonder where he’s off.

Leon Balogun has announced he’s leaving Rangers on a free. He’s 33 years old but has had a great couple of seasons for Rangers and played a big part of in their European campaigns. Would be a decent signing for a Championship team I reckon, although can see QPR going for him with their new boss having been assistant under Gerrard at Ibrox.

Would be a decent player to have on the bench for us definetly. Rangers fans were sorry to see him go

First XI

-----------------------------Darlow*-------------------------

---------------Dijksteel---Leniham*----Gibson*------------

Jones--------------------McNair-------------------Toffolo*

-------------Crooks---------------------Tavernier----------

----------------------Riis*---------Twine*-------------------

Good enough for a play-off push I'd hope?

Nice balance and known performers at this level except for Twine. Question marks around pace at the back and McNair performing as the DCM I suppose.

Second XI

----------------------------Daniels-------------------------

---------------Wood---------Hall---------Sarr*------------

Fisher--------------------Howson-------------------Bola

-------------Boyd-Munce----------------McGree----------

----------------------Joao*---------Watmore----------------

Need some better cover players.......

8 signings there (without loans)?

Sell Spence, Fry, Uche, Akpom, Ameobi ( 😅 ) and Lumley to fund it.

Quite a few compromises there and still lacking in quality cover at wingback, centre half and centre mid, tried to be realistic-ish and assumed Payero is going and we might cash in on Fry as decent champo centre halves aren't too difficult to get (hopefully).

I'd honestly like us to try and sign our way out of our problems and then loan additional cover and wildcards later on in the window. I don't want us waiting till the PL clubs have sorted themselves out and be a month into the season before we finalise our squad.
