Your best away pub laugh .

On an opposite vein the worst experience I had was that night match at Joker Park early 90s when Jamie Pollock scored the ugliest goal in football history after getting taunted all night by the deck chairs .
we went to a working men’s club nearby and got signed in by mate of a mate ( obviously no colours and little talk ) only for word to get round and we were actually cornered in the lounge . Luckily the contact called them off and ‘escorted’ us out the fire exit .

That was my first visit to Roker Park. The place was like a warzone after the game. Fighting everywhere. The police were completely overwhelmed.

In the early 90's Boro played away to Bristol Rovers at a time when Rovers were playing their home games at Twerton Park, Bath City's ground.

Pre-match we were crammed into and spilling into the streets of a very small bar along with a bunch of Rovers fans, which felt a bit edgy when we arrived, but there were no other pubs near to Twerton Park (and I seem to remember the pub was quite a hike from the ground) so we stuck it out.

It turned out to be a really good natured encounter, both sets of fans mingling and taking turns to sing songs.

The match had a great atmosphere as there were a lot of Boro fans making a lot of noise in this tiny ground which probably held about 5000.

Is that the game where Ripley was sent off and he kicked in the door of the dressing room. Bristol Rovers sent us the bill!!

Mention of that match is bringing back some memories. I was at Newcastle Uni at the time and a group of us went along, stopping for a couple of pre match beers in a pub close to Roker, all wearing Boro shirts. One of the lads won the jackpot on the fruit machine which was all in tokens. For some reason after the (really bad tempered on and off the pitch) match we decided to go back to the pub to get a few more beers and spend the tokens. How we all got out unscathed I will never know!

Always liked the Antigallican when we were at Charlton. Nice big old place that you could get loads into. Always remember my mate telling his son we were meeting him at the Antigalactican.

Closed down now unfortunately and on the market for residential development in a sad sign of the times. :(

Went to the Brentford game last season and stopped in the Black Dog beer house for lunch before hand. Was chatting with some home fans and was a good atmosphere. I liked Griffin Park, really old school stadium. Cracking game too, shame we lost though.

The Gatekeeper in Cardiff must have had close to 1000 Boro fans it at one point - the road outside was heaving and ankle deep in cans and plastic glasses. I think it was on three floors all shoulder to shoulder, even when the game was on there were plenty in there.

Ref Sophos Bar in Stuttgart - about 150 in there at lunchtime for an evening match. I was on a table with a German guy that looked and talked like a 55 year old Klopp, he was trying to be kool and hang out with the Boro fans. He worked at Mercedes and he said his family escaped from the East in 1945 and I could see he didn't want to say anymore. I could see he was a bit knocked back with number of Boro fans in the bar and how quickly they knocking back the Wheat Beer and the constant singing. I gather Celtic took 8,000 which we couldn't quite compete with.

Luck enough to watch us in Lisbon.
Got taxi to the waterfront for a few quiet mid-day beers in the sun. The day before the game.
By 4pm it was carnage and ankle deep in pish in the bogs.
Plenty on the beer at 6am at Teesside Airport.
That was a very long dayo_O

Banik Ostrava was good

The town didn't know what hit them. The look of panic and surprise on the barstaff faces was priceless. Completely overwhelmed as we drank the town dry :D

I didn’t get to Banik Ostrava but just remember watching the game, our first game in Europe and it kicked off in the stand, some Polish lads had crossed the border looking for a bit of chew, I just thought.....ffs!!!

We always went to the golden cup for blackburn away and either park there or the school down the road.

That bank was a ba$tard to walk back up and it was always FREEZING blackburn away usually near xmas

Was thinking the same thing about Uwe.
We saw him in our stand at Tranmere.
Always thought that ground was quite tidy for a (generally) lower league club.
Boro in every stand that day.
Definitely a day for the song 'Boro here, boro there, boro every fookin where'

Joker Park 1990.
Remember the Sunland nutter (or two) that jumped onto the pitch and marched towards the Boro end taking his jacket off as if ready for a fight? Highly charged atmosphere that night - probably cos of bus windows and pubs getting turned over a couple of years previous. That was a long quiet walk to the car that night
