Young and Fearless

Was chatting earlier and ended up discussing how there are things I did when I was younger that i wouldn’t dream of doing now.
One that sprung to mind was the time I did a skydive!I totally enjoyed it but the thought of doing that now sends shivers down my spine!

anything you did when you were younger that you wouldn’t do now or the older you get do you care less?

I enjoyed my motorbikes in my younger days. Since getting older I buy bikes but spend more time doing them up and polishing them rather than riding. I have four in the garage now, but only get as far as the end of the road.

Loved a skateboard as a kid. I’m 48 now and still own 2 boards. I’m itching to go to Preston park and skate there but I’ll just break my neck. I’m still ok and got the skills but my mind is a lot younger than my ability.

Going on nights out and happily walking round Boro/Yarm/Newcastle at whatever time.

Wild camping on the moors

Upping sticks and moving to London/Austria without a job or permanent accommodation

So you were what my son (a staunch and lunatic BMX'er) would refer to as, disdainfully, a 'Skaty Rebel'

Is it just me or is jumping up and down on the bed just not as much fun as it used to be?

this just reminded me, the other week me and my missus were talking about that thing you used to do as kids where you’d lay on your back, feet in the air and then your brother/sister/friend would try and balance on the soles of your feet pushed into their stomach.
She wanted to try it, as soon as her feet touched my mid 30’s stomach all I could think was “what kind of internal damage am I going to do?”

the consequences for everything are much more severe now. I made the foolish decision to lay on the floor watching the match. It resulted in an apparent fusing of my spine along with a two day pain suit. Like DOMS from a strenuous free weights work out.. but from lying on the floor for an hour.

Definitely nowhere near as fearless on a bike, although admittedly rarely ride one now. As a kid would ride down all sorts of crazy drops. Fell off loads but didn't bother me I'm the slightest.

Been mountain biking a few times as an adult and let's just say there's a lot of getting off and pushing going on when it comes to some of the "obstacles".

Taking my shirt off on holiday when I was slim and muscled .
Christ now I wouldnt dare as i cant see my knees
