I was just looking over the Yorkshire cricket team league position hoping to get some uplifting news but I see they’re also bottom of the league — anyone have an insight to what’s going on there?

Everyone and all the budget directed at ott purging, nobody focused on playing cricket.
Root, Bairstow, Brook, Malan, Rashid rarely if ever play.
Academy product not quite good enough.No budget to hire quality.
It's a horrible state.

There’s a 48 point deduction in there applied this season for the way they handled the Azeem Rafiq thing but they’re not exactly pulling up trees without that. They should win the current match, though, and might still avoid finishing bottom.

On the day they announced Yorkshires points deduction a report came out and said racism in cricket was widespread but we are the only ones with a points deduction. Thats not to defend Yorkshire though. We get the deduction and get on with it. This season is a write off roll on next season. Mind giving Mike a two year contract will not help anyone.

The other thing that kills us is that we have half the team in various international squads and we play teams who have lost one player as an example. And even when they are not playing for England it seems the likes of Root and Bairstow would rather go and play golf. As in when we lost the last game of last season when we were relegated.

They'd be a couple of places further up without the points deduction. Saw them at The Riverside earlier in the season, they have some good youngsters coming through. Bairstow and Malan both played in that particular defeat.

The local lads could edge closer to promotion by beating Sussex over the next couple of days. Despite not having Stokes and Wood all season.
