York restaurant recommendations

So Mrs and myself are off to the Shed 7 gig in York next Friday and we intend to make a weekend of it doing the usual sightseeing stuff on the Saturday and Sunday but we are looking for a decent restaurant for the Saturday night before getting smashed.

Anyone got any recommendations - Italian - Indian - Chinese or something completely different but not Vegan or the usual McDonalds recommendation

Kalpakavadi, Indian restaurant. We had a very nice meal there last Christmas time.

Not everyone has the same taste though.

The Whippit Inn always crops up on these questions. Seems to have a good reputation . Not been myself though.

Star Inn the City is excellent. Great menu. Not badly priced for good a la carte food.
Lovely setting as well. On the river. Big windows with loads of natural light.

If your wandering, try York spark.
Few nice little place for food on Walmgate too, lots Asian, Thai, Nepal, Yemenis type places.
For Pub Grub style, i cant fault House of Trembling madness on Stonegate.

Cafe No 8 Bistro is my favourite place to eat in York, it's fine dining at gastropub prices, with a friendly, relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.
