The government has set aside a budget of between 25 to 46 million and are requesting submissions from various parties for their suggestion. The budget cost also includes the replacement of the Blue Bridge – considered an important public amenity by the Government – in London’s St James’s Park.
So its not 45 million for a statue at all, it's a budget provision for a project to create a memorial including the repair/replacement of an existing public asset.
It may best to find out the facts before reverting to outrage

I remember a time where the 'lets have a Republic' bogeyman was the idea of President Blair. Now the public vote would be President Boris or President Farage. I prefer our King or Queen being born, not elected

I don't think I made any comment on how taxes should be spent, merely commented on how folk leap to a conclusion without reding what is said. A bit like your reaction to my post.
