Would earlier subs have made it a bit easier?

Sunderland and Leeds both lost - so a very good weekend footballwise

Thought we looked a bit leggy in the second half - and just wondered if the likes of Gilbert Forss and Jones had come on at 2-0 to rest eg Azaz and Burgzorg who’d just come back from illness
Their goal seemed to see Carrick decide to bring on Howson to tighten things up when the above had been warming up just before

Good news is at least we have 6 days until the next match

Personally, I think this is Carricks main flaw in that they changed half their team, had fresher legs than us, scored and for 10 minutes looked like a second was on the cards. He finally reacted, but it was all too late. I firmly believe if he acted 15 mins sooner, we would not have conceded at all.

I don't recall them looking likely to score again after they scored?

Carrick seems to prefer to leave changes until the 70-75 minute mark. Is it a flaw? Unless there is a parallel universe in which he has made early subs and our results are measurably improved it's just speculation. Making changes can affect teams negatively as well as positively. I'd say that until they scored we had looked more likely to add a third than concede? Their keeper had a made some decent saves and we had missed chances. After they scored we got our third eight minutes later.

Seem to remember plenty moaning about substitions he had made after the Watford match. Dead easy as a fan with perfect hindsight isn't it?

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I thought message boards were about discussion, opinion and personal thoughts, apologies to you if I have that wrong.

However, I felt Hull grew in confidence and played some decent stuff for around 10 mins around the time and after they scored, they obviously had fresher legs and were raising their tempo and pushing on, they didn’t fold. Of course it is speculation on my part, my words infer as much, thats why I used terms like “I think” and “I firmly believe” rather than “it is a fact” etc 🤷‍♂️

I am aware their keeper made some saves, just like our Super Sol did, one very crucial one in particular, second half, from Sol comes to mind. The fact we ultimately got a third does not detract from the obvious appearance of us looking tired and leggy in a raised tempo game for the period I referred to. Hull had an extra days rest too, I stand by my thoughts though. If a second had gone in, we ‘could’ have been looking potentially at a different outcome, thankfully it didn’t play out that way. The way to avoid the obvious difference in fitness levels is to react to it sooner, I would site Watford away as an example where we didn’t react soon enough and paid the price.

Yes and that is why I posted my opinion and personal thoughts. Were you just hoping for a series of posts agreeing with you?

Boro totally controlled the second half. Hull scored out of nowhere (not unlike last season). That gave them a bit of energy, but Brynn only had one save to make.

We should have been 3 or 4 up by the time Hull score from a defensive mistake.
