Worst Ever Boro 11 - We have our team!

Traore wasn't even in the team when Pulis came. He developed him and he became our 'best player' .....in the most part that was down to Pulis....
👍

He didn’t do anything of the sort. Anyone with eyes could see Traore was our best player. All Pulis did was pick him and tell everyone else to pass to him. Traore did the rest. Pulis gets what credit he deserves from me. None.

Southgate for me admited at the time of appointment he didn't have a contact book or any Idea of scouting. the club advised by the LMA not to appoint him but still the club did and he accepted knowing his inexperience. He then failed abysmally and got us relegated and this is what gets me he took zero responsibility for the predicament when he was clearly out of his depth. Please don't state he was unlucky to get sacked he should have been sacked or resigned the previous season when the players raised a white flag and surrenderd relagation in the meakest manner I have seen in my lifetime. Awful awful manager for us
3 seasons in the prem, could have got us promoted.. had the carpet pulled from under him and in his last prem season couldn’t buy any players!! Summer 2008 was one of the worst we’ve had in terms of recruitment.

Southgate was fine, he did a good job and should not have been fired when he did and neither should he have been replaced with Strachan.

He was awful and should never have been appointed an experienced coach could easily have kept us up and would have certainly bought wiser than mido shwaky and hoyte

£6m for young was a financial decision, steinsson was our first choice.. but Hoyte was highly rated at Arsenal.

Mido was a great striker and we beat of competition from Sunderland to sign him.. Shawky made sense as relatively low risk squad player..

The finances we what they were and the pool of players available was pretty shallow. even with the benefit of hindsight we do not fo much better than what we did.

Relegation was caused by our financial position meaning we were unable to sign anyone in January. The bank wanted all of the Downing money straight away! Try hey wouldn’t let us spend it on players.

We missed out on Matic and Watson too

Mido a great striker 😁 he was an absolutely terrible buy Sunderland got lucky they ended up with Kenwyn Jones who scored more and caused far less trouble.

I have been a little busy the last few days so wasn't able to contribute but I have to say that I am absolutely appalled at the lack of the words 'Jason Euell' on this thread.

Gestede was a far superior striker to Euell, who I honestly detested watching. 17 of the worst appearances I have ever seen in a boro shirt. Not a single goal and made it feel like we had 10 men.

The Gook is a shoo-in of course. Shame as I wanted him to do so well. Playboy by all accounts.

Miller was fraud. Dodgy dealings by Strachan. Paid nearly a mil to a Scottish team in dire financial issues for a player with less than 6 months left on his contract.

The only decent thing Strachan did was walk away, yet that does not save him.

Slightly edging out Gareth Southgate as our worst manager in my lifetime.

I concur with other posters that during the Pulis days I didn't seem to really care even if we won. The cup loss to Burton? and play offs v Villa still anger me to this day.

Worst manager = Pulis. A walking crime against football, its was soul destroying even when we won FFS. The only manager who's managed to stop me going to games 😣
Agreed, I remember us going behind late on in a home game and he took a forward off and replaced him with a right back - there were already 2 right backs on the pitch. Summed him up

I have no affection or respect for either Wilder (arrogant, stubborn and selfish) or Monk (pretty useless and who looked and behaved like someone who’d been seconded from a local car showroom).

But worst - the little Scottish get. As others have said, he set us back YEARS and flooded our squad with horribly overpaid, truly mediocre Scottish pub team players.

His attitude to virtually everyone stank - he was so totally NOT Boro - I cringed everytime he said anything anything at all in oublic.

Rotten football, rotten attitude, rotten manager.

Gordon Strachan sails home
