"Also back during the McClaren years, SMAC overused the word "magnificent" when describing our performances, even though many weren't".
Vitriol for using the word 'magnificent' ??? Bit of an overreaction there me thinks (if your post was aimed at me).
For the record I loved SMACs time at Boro, he gave us our best ever years that'll never be repeated, but we also had our fair share of dour performances at times (which all managers go through now and then, not just SMAC). He did get flack at times, but no more than what Carrick has had in two or three spells this season, or some of the managers that recently preceded him had. If we'd have lost to Norwich and QPR, I'm sure someone somewhere would be contemplating throwing their season ticket at MC.
But those spewing vitriol are a minority, and always have been so its wasted energy to get worked up over manager criticism, past or present.
