Indeed. Most of today's pre-madona's would have been kicked into the stand in the first five minutes and that would have been that. Wasn't going to respond but that was too good to miss. It was doggy dog in those days you know.

One thing that strikes me when I watch it is that the players all look like actual blokes. Even when you watch football from the nineties it’s the same. Players are quicker and fitter now, that’s for sure but over the last 10-15 years the game has lost something, I’m not sure what it is but it’s gone. Maybe it’s my age but I can’t get my head around the idea that a bang average player now is likely to be a millionaire. I don’t begrudge anyone making a few quid but now it’s obscene. I wonder how many gifted players from now would be as good if they played back then, back when players would quite happily stick the boot in and it was allowed!
