World Cup Draw This Friday at 5pm

One thing I'm relieved about is they didn't decide to copy the Euros and have third placed teams progressing.

There'll be no farces like Portugal in Euro 2016.

They are only keeping I think three or maybe 4 stadiums As they are the rest are going to other countries after the tournament or bring downscaled into other projects.

I was in Qatar in feb and the guide explained what is happening. Inc the stadium right next to the dock

I think only one of the stadiums is remaining in its tournament form afer the competition ends. The rest are either being partially dismantled or completely revamped for alternative use.
My sister works for an architects company in Madrid who specialise in the design of football stadiums and the Education City stadium and the 974 stadium (pictured) were designed by them.
A box of Lego helped create the inspiration for the 974 stadium for what its worth.

Shame Qatar get a Pot 1 seeding.
It’s been done I suppose for every World Cup since time began. The hosts are seeded into the draw so they get their own choice of venues etc. (and the opening match, since they abandoned the much-missed tradition of putting the defending champions up there to be shot at in the opener).

Normally makes little difference as they’re usually a top tier nation anyway, and on other occasions it’s evened out by the luck of the draw. Think only South Africa have failed to qualify. Don’t know what to expect from Qatar football-wise, a bit surprised that it doesn’t look like they will be showing up with a squad half full of players with names ending in “inho”.

Potential “Group of Life”? Qatar can’t draw another Asian team, and the Europeans in pot 2 and 3 are quite tough, so we’re maybe looking at USA-Senegal-Scotland path winner, or something like that… Scotland might even be able to get out of that group (yeah, now I’m talking flying pigs…

Made the cardinal sin of listening to Hawkesby and Jacobs on Talksport while driving to the Tip. Their headline is "Martin Known believes Italy should have been given a spot at the WC because they are European Champions. Headline! Martin Known? As much relevance as me.

Who is this guy begging up Blatter on BBC?
Efan Ekoku. It's nonsense him saying Blatter gave empowerment to other federations outside of UEFA and CONMEBOL. It is all about corruption and nothing else

NZ not showing it so on the Iplayer.
