Wor flights from Teesside to Dortmund for the Geordies

No, it's not but it is a start.
There were (I believe) four scheduled flights yesterday, great if you want to go to Aberdeen or Amsterdam (or use Schiphol as a hub to elsewhere). There really is no need to do the airport down, it is down. Looking at the Departures and Arrivals for the week daily there are three flights to Amsterdam and one to Aberdeen there is a flight to Faro tomorrow and one to Mallorca on Friday. Busy it is not.

I understand that and I'm not defending it, but too many on here are pleased it is struggling because it was a Tory folly. Myself, I would have liked to see it succeed for the good of the area.

I'm not asking you or others to be pleased that it is hemorrhaging money, I just struggle with your gloating.
Don't think anyone is pleased or gloated. It's right that we hold people to account for wasting money. It honestly shocks me how people can just be so ok with it given the info that's out there in the public domain about how this whole thing has unfolded.

Logan would fill 3 flights to Aberdeen if prices were right.

Winter schedule loses holiday flights apart from Alicante & flights.
A canary island option would probably do well through winter.

You never know. It may persuade a few people to consider using the airport for other flights once they see how easy and convenient it is.

Gloating, or quite rightly pointing out that it's a Houchen folly that's being paid for by tax payers so he can get his fat face in the papers.

We all know it's a folly but it's definitely gloating rather than pointing it out. Week in and week out there is a thread on this subject and the same people can't wait to tell us all how it's costing us millions. I'm certainly not happy about it and would love to see the man clapped in irons but I would have also liked to have seen the airport succeed. It can only be good for the area that it is a success.

We KNOW how easy and convenient it is. We can't take flights that don't exist.
How many people around Newcastle even bother checking the ones that do? We can’t expect it to go from what is has been in recent years to a thriving airport overnight. You never know who will be on that flight. It might just include someone in a position to influence things positively.

I prefer to use rail where possible, but when I have to fly, I always check Teesside. I've never used it yet.

strange angle, it's forum, people put over their opinions when they read others

It's simply not possible for it to become a thriving airport, either overnight or even in the next decade.

If you look at the market fundamentals, ALL regional airports have struggled since the financial crisis, not just in the UK but worldwide. Airlines have never really been particularly profitable, so as soon as there is a disruption to demand (such as covid), those nearest the edge go out of business (see Flybe, Thomas Cook, Monarch, etc.). And that's before you factor in the impact of technology (Teams/Zoom meetings, etc.) and the need to reduce carbon emissions in the future. This reduces competition, increases prices and reduces the need for additional flying slots outside of established hubs.

In order to reduce costs and stay competitive, the remaining airlines are rationalising their routes, centralising operations and flying larger aircraft from fewer locations. This has been the trend in the industry for years and there's nothing that one, relatively small, regional airport can do to reverse it. Put quite simply, it was never going to work.

Surely your angle is the strange one, you've come on a thread about Geordie's flying from Teesside and chose to slate the airport.

Between us though, we've certainly taken this thread down a different angle and apologise to the OP for my part.

I didnt choose to slate the airport, I engaged with a post from Holgate Corner that said "Difficult one for some posters on here who seem to want to run down Teesside’s own airport and drive an hour and a half up the road to fly from Ponteland."

Generally how forums work - you post a view - others agree or disagree. Is there some new rule that when someone bums the airport you have to nod and agree now? Must have missed the sticky.

Teesside Airport is the best airport I've ever traveled via ( granted , it's only a list of 20 - 30 )
However..
I'm back and forwards to Portugal 4 x a year ..
And need to actually plan a bit in advance.
So Feb or March or April 2024..
I've no idea if there's flights or not , so in the next six weeks, I'll end up spending that money elsewhere.

Thanks for the lesson on how forums work but you have put that reply above and on other threads, it seems to be your go to answer and it's wearing a bit thin.

Oh, and bye the way, I never stated any individuals name regarding slating the airport but if the cap fits.
