Woodgate on Talksport

I think the role at Fleetwood would be an ideal platform for him.
I genuinely think that Woody is a decent guy and in the grand scheme of things he had bitten off more than he could chew.
But we have to look at it this way: Steve Gibson offers you a decent salary to manage your hometown club - and Gibson takes that risk. Woody cant be blamed for taking what must have seemed like, the key to the Boro-brick road. Gibson took the gamble. Woody proved he needed experience alongside him - he found out his frailties and his weaknesses.

You have to underachieve in order to learn how to succeed.

Fleetwood might not be a bad place to start. (y)

Theres some bloke lives near the East Coast mainline who started out playing for Chesterfield, whose first job as Gaffa was Gainsborough Trinity...........hes done alright lyke;)

And it took Warnock to turn them into footballers.

Not sure that's entirely fair.
They were all good players at their previous clubs when we bought them, admittedly League One clubs, and then struggled massively under Woodgate.

Warnock undoubtedly has had a huge impact on them, but I think it's harsh to say they weren't footballers before Warnock came in.
Browne went back to Oxford in January and absolutely smashed it, that had nothing to do with Warnock.

It certainly did, which I've mentioned on another thread, he seen something in them to bring to the club, I would rather remember him for that than a daft throwaway comment

The comment has no valuation to the club, the players he brought in certainly have

Did you see Bola? He was like a deer in headlights. Browne was a red car waiting to happen in every game. No composure. Look what Warnock's done for him.

Woodgate was the manager/head coach; he wasn't chief scout. It was up to him to field a team to compete with the other teams in the league and try to move us up the table. He did neither.

He may be worthy of some appreciation for you but not me. I would rather have a hundred Pulis's than one Woodgate at my football club. He was so far out of his depth it wasn't even funny.

I've not defended Woodgate at all, it's the opposite.
I'm defending the players, they were good before they played under Woodgate, they've been good after.

But doesn't that tell you everything then about his 'management' if they're good players now??!!

Wish people would stop giving Woodgate credit for these signings. He lost any credibility when he threw Bevington under the bus in the gazette about the signings last season when they were struggling. Bevington deserves the credit

I gave Woodgate the credit for the signings, as I have done for Mogga bringing in players for Aitor, Maddren for Rioch, Stan Anderson for big Jack

That's the way I see it anyway

The players had it in them all the time, as I have previously stated it took the messiahs touch to bring them out of their shell at the Boro, let's not forget they were the best players at their clubs

That’s fair but for the reasons above I think Woodgate loses any credibility on these signings. He basically threw Bevington under the bus about it and Bevington lost his job. Maybe we should of kept him as he clearly has an eye for a player.

Probably to much to stay on as spotting players from been a manager

For me it was 100% the wrong time & TBH Gibbo shouldn't have given him the job

I mean we should of kept Bevington. He clearly has an eye for talent. Warnock has the skills to get the best out of the talent. Could of been a good working relationship
