Woodgate on Talksport

Coming up soon to talk about Spurs and their chances of winning the cup as their last cup winning goal scorer.

He should talk about Boro though I would imagine!

Just listing. It's all about spurs

His voice just reminds me of his post match presses😂. It just confirms that him and Warnock are night and day (I watched an hour and a half podcast of Warnock takling).

That said he did admit he should have brought in an experienced backroom staff. I don't think that's rocket science.... Seems a bit odd hindsite.

Do you need experience to deliver the magical “Ajax Lite” though?

I'm sure he was also asked during his tenure about experience in his backroom staff and he said he didn't need it as he could talk to people like Pulis and Mowbray if needed.

He should never have been appointed.

Although that's not his 'problem' and he was never going to turn a chance like that down (would any of us Boro fans?).

That said we were awful and frankly down had he not been sacked. One win in 11. We picked up 1 point from 'destiny 10 days' against Wigan / Luton and Barnsley (3 clubs below us).

I have never felt so low as the 1-0 defeat at Barnsley as we didn't have a shot. Also being blocked in the car park by a bus for over an hour and driving to Portsmouth didn't help😂

It's hard to compere him to Warnock. It's not really fair. Yet you can see that every player is better under him and its pretty much the same side apart from a keeper and Morsy/Akpom.

I have seen comments from Warnock saying about both Dijksteel and Bola about how they 'hadn't been coached'. That's pretty damming.

The timing was very wrong for his appointment, few fans wanted him so he was on the back foot from the off.
Excellent player, top drawer in fact but great players rarely become even good Managers, different skill set and Woodgate was lacking in many areas, not his fault but Gibbo made a big mistake that was on the verge of killing our football club.
I hope Woodgate gets a lower level job, gains experience and kicks on.
Always good to see local success, get back soon Woody but not at the Mighty Boro

'few fans wanted him'
Can't remember seeing anyone actually wanting him to be fair.

A lot of fans hoped it would work as it would've been a good story and something else we could've been proud of, but it never did.

I think if he wants to get back into football, he needs to go back to coaching and gain experience from working underneath someone who knows what they're doing.

Personally, I don't think he's cut out for management, however I've known to be wrong before

I would turn it down and I hope to God at least 99.9% of posters on here would (I've allowed a small leeway in case NW is a secret poster).
As a Boro fan I would hate to be the manager responsible for taking us into non-league football.

I was being a little bit polite towards him, yes agree I don't think anybody wanted him, not the best Managerial starting position.

It was that unbelievable team selection against Swansea, weeks of a break and he came up with that team.
Gibson at last realised he had to act and that he did.
What a difference now, we are all happy supporters again and long may it continue.

Its extemely tough for an inexperienced young manager amd management team in the Championship. I was very surprised with Steve Gibson, he seems to have a weakness to me for using untried young managers (Robson, McClaren, Southgate, Woodgate). It partly worked with Robson but he received alot of money, worked with McClaren (but had some good coaching experience), failed with Southgate, failed with Woodgate. Maybe he was brought up on the positive experience of Big Jack and it has shaped his thinking.

Woodgate has hinted that he felt there were a significant number of supporters against his appointment and I think that's true, but then there was good reason for that. He had zero managerial experience and we were going through a period of cost-cutting, plus he has a questionable history as a player - all valid reasons for having doubts, which ultimately proved to be correct.

But he's a local lad and I'd still like to see him make a success of it at another club.

He could maybe get the role skin to what Leo appears to be doing now....
Poor Leo doesn't even seem to get a seat on the bench.
