Woodgate and Bournemouth

Would he have been offered the job at Boro without the promise of playing in this way? I thought that the plan convinced the club and also won over some of the supporters, whether it was tenable or not. But am not sure he would have been offered the job without promising to bring something new to our play.
He shouldn't have been given the job, as mentioned I'm not knocking Woodgate at all, if he knew all the teams as he said then he knew we didn't have the players he said we had & struggled from early doors onwards

Bournemouth have as good a squad as anyone at this level, but I'm glad he's doing well because they need organising into a cohesive, winning team.

If Cardiff's performance was typical today, then I can only say it will get football done away with.
As much as I like Mccarthy I would like to see Bournemouth finish above them purely on the football basis,

For Bournemouth substitute Middlesbrough............oh hang on.

Yes?
I did fully expect us to beat them, and it was shocking that we didn't.

But it wouldn't mean Warnock was working miracles if we had beaten Rotherham and Birmingham.

And that's with a squad with half the quality that Bournemouth has.

Yes agree Bournemouth have a good squad. A squad though that was underperforming under their previous manager Jason Tindall. So credit where credit is due. So far he’s kept them up there.

He's been phenomenally lucky to land this gig at Bournemouth, but good luck to him. It's funny how things work out. I thought if he'd wanted another manager's job he'd have to wait for the Hartlepool job to become available

Or if we had pushed on after signing Alf Common. Where do you end.
He has made a good point, the appointment of a manager with no experience at that time was a disastrous and disappointing decision. It’s the reason we are where we are at the moment and not a very comfortable premier league side.

Reading some posts on here, if Bournemouth do well it's in spite of Woodgate. But if Bournemouth don't do well, it's his fault.

If he really is as thick as some people on here make out, well you know what, he isn't doing a half bad job then.

If we don't make the POs, I'd like to see Barnsley go up, it not them, then happy to see Woodgate take up B'mouth.

Although Woodgate failed at most things for Boro, in his defence, he didn’t lose the dressing room. No player has, to my knowledge, said anything negative about his time at the club. If anything, it appeared he was too nice but that seems the modern way. The Karanka/Mourinho approach of openly treating certain players negatively hoping to get a reaction is becoming obsolete.

At Bournemouth they have such a superior squad of players - all he needs to do is keep them happy and they should have half a chance of doing well. It will be more difficult next season when, assuming they don’t win the play offs, they inevitably shed more of their established players.

I didn't hate him. I just thought he was slightly out of his depth and more so should never have got the job in the first place.

To pick Keane as his No2 was also a disaster. He needed a Kevin Blackwell type.

Let's have it right about the 'abuse'. We had won one in 11 and we frankly down. That performance against Swansea first game back from lockdown looked like a team that hadn't trained for 6 months (let's not forget Rudy and Nmecha up top🙄)

I think anyone in charge of us would have been given the same amount of stick. I'm not sure about the 'he didn't have the tools'. The players that were woeful for him have all got better under Warnock. That's down to coaching (I'm sure Warnock said Bola had never been 'coached').

He's also got better players at Bournemouth and its not like he was joining a side in trouble. They were in the top 6.

He's doing a decent job. Thst said the best thing to happen to us in years is Warnock so I don't really care what Woody gets up to.

just finished listening to the poddy, loads in there about his boro career, both before (as a fan), as a player and lots about his stint as manager, tony pulis, and the way it all ended, in quite some detail. I expect it'll appear in the gazette in a day or two ;)
