Wonder if much of the football gets called off over the weekend

More Sheffield United fixture backlog you say?
Hope they beat Blackburn in the cup, and tomorrow is called off for them, because that'll give them 2 more midweek fixtures to squeeze in with only 2 remaining midweek fixture slots.

After the international break, they would play Sat-tue-Fri-Mon-Sat-Tue-Sat-Tue-Sat-Tue-Mon 11 games in 38 days

A big reason is it won't change is over Xmas fans want football it would help the lower league s summer football as you would get more family turning up for for a evening match it's bright up to 10pm also kids are off school it has so many pluses I would be pushing for it if I was a club owner.

Yep - happens all the time in Spain
I have, it's f%^*n hard work.

Spanish teams largely play in the evening for a reason. 4 games tomorrow are at 9pm and another 2 at 6:30. Real play at home at 2:30 but that's because Madrid is at altitude and only about 16C.

I'm not sure with climate change it makes any difference anyway. It's much rarer for games to called off today than 30 years ago. Plus it's the middle of March now and we're talking about games being cancelled. Are we advocating not starting until April?

The reality, as observing the swathes of empty seats in the GRFZ in August will tell you, is that the summer holidays are worse for family attendance. As are evenings even when it’s lighter after the clocks change. Tend to be less everywhere tbh. One thing we know for sure - if money said it would work “tradition” wouldn’t stop them.

Not in La Liga though. Temperatures from October to May in Spain average between 7 and 25 through the day. Spain mainly play in evening when it’s cooler as well. Also have to take into effect the humidity as well as if the humidity was above 80% then the body struggles to cool itself down through sweat which can be a danger to life.
