Women's Euros 2022 Thread

Weigman has a real headache when picking the side next week. Daly or Greenwood at left back, Toone and Russo or Kirby and White? Which two of Mead, Hemp and Kelly out wide?

Good headache to have though!

Daly was up against a great winger tonight. How many wingers of that calibre are kicking about these days?

True, she hasn't really put a foot wrong before tonight so she'd be unlucky to get dropped. Although I think Greenwood had been unlucky to miss out on starting before tonight as well. I'd be happy to see either start next week.

There's also Demi Stokes as a LB candidate and Nikita Parris as another option for a wide player. One thing England have at the moment is a really good depth of talent in the squad.

It's great to be able to bring off two of your first choice attackers (White and Kirby) and bring on two who are just as good - if not arguably, better.

It would be harsh on White to drop her but I reckon Russo is in better form at the moment, poses a greater threat and contributes more to the team all round.

Half time at Sweden/Belgium. Not much to fear here (famous last words!). Sweden can't shoot for sht! But that was a very harsh VAR decision.

But that was a very harsh VAR decision.
Was a strange one. I didn't think she'd got herself back onside in real time but when they showed the replay, even with her leaning, she looked a good foot onside.

I'm assuming the camera angle wasn't great and that VAR isn't just making it up as it goes along.

Hasn't been the best game, Belgium have done a good job breaking up the game and making it tough for Sweden but it doesn't make for an entertaining game. England/Sweden would be a better game, but Sweden are more dangerous than they've looked tonight and I'd feel more confident with England playing Belgium.

That VAR was very harsh, I don't think she looked offside from the replay. I was about to say that apart from that, Sweden haven't really created anything - but then the keeper had to make a wonder save to keep them in the game.

Gotta feel for Belgium there, Sweden have dominated but they'd done so well to hold out for 92 minutes and then concede a scrappy goal from a corner.

England - Sweden should be a really good game though.

Yep, I feel for Belgium. They worked hard. Deserved extra time
It should be a good game on Tuesday. And probably one England can win. 30 odd goal scoring chances for Sweden, they wont get that against England. But they're a tough outfit

England/France final coming up :D (y)

I still think England/Germany. I think Netherlands will give France a tough game tomorrow as well, I think France are physically stronger but I could see Netherlands sneaking through. No matter who gets through, the semi finals are both going to be great games.

The atmosphere at Rotherham is electric. The Netherlands fans are unreal (me and my son walked to the ground behind an orange bus blasting out Dutch songs). Cannot wait for this game to start.

France look great on the ball but goodness they are so wasteful upfront. You just know Holland will pinch this on a rare break in the 2nd half

I don't know how bad they looked on TV but it was right down the other end of the ground from me and I can't work out how none of them have gone in.

If Miedema gets a chance she'll score. But she seems to be getting drawn out wide or deep all the time because they aren't creating anything for her.
