Woman who threw drink over Nigel Farage

I’m talking about all MPs not just Farage.

Look back to David Amess, we can’t let that happen to anybody else no matter what their political outlook or whatever colour they wear.
To follow that logic the sentence should have been ever harsher as she might have been carrying a knife and committed murder?

Cases, rightly, can only be tried on the actual events which occurred. It's not minority report.

It’s was a milkshake.

You’re on about serious time for a milkshake? Seriously?
It’s a projectile which is unidentified until it makes contact and doesn’t do any harm. We should not normalise and make acceptable the act of throwing projectiles at MPs on the basis that they might not be dangerous. That sort of aggressive act puts protection officers in a very difficult position. And puts both their careers and innocent bystanders at risk if they overreact.

You should not be able to attack MPs, however much of an **** they are, because attacking MPs inherently puts the public at risk for that reason alone.

An attack on an MP, police officer, NHS worker, soldier etc should be dealt with harshly.

She should serve her time and learn her lesson, our public workers should be more protected.

I know what your point is - you think they all need protecting.

I’m happy with the current position - they are treated like you and I.

I also disagree that David Amess murder is worse than any other murder.

Forget about Nigel Farage, this goes for all MPs or politicians.

I don’t see why what I’m saying is outlandish to some.
Then why do you think "she should serve her time" in this case?

Do you think anyone throwing a beverage at anyone else should "serve time"?

Why any more so than the murder of someone of a different profession, may I ask?

I am talking about protecting public workers, no matter who they are or what side they are on.

If Keir Starmer, Carla Denayer or Adrian Ramsey had a beverage thrown over them I wonder if those who are saying “it’s just a milkshake” would have a different view?

I was on jury duty for a case where someone had threw a milkshake over someone. He also had 3 other charges, breaking a restraining order, harassment and something else.
He got jail time.

I totally agree with the sentiment that we live in a risky world, our politicians need protecting and nobody should be attacking them with anything other than words.
That said, I wouldn’t expect someone to get a custodial sentence if they deliberately chucked a milkshake over me. Or a pint. Or any type of beverage. In fact, I’d be gutted if they did and I’d be doing what I could not to inflame the situation and to reduce their punishment. I mean, even if it was a stupid thing to do and was just for publicity….it was a milkshake ffs.

That’s it, how many of these people crying about this sentence would expect someone to get a custodial sentence for throwing a drink in someone’s face.

If I was talking to someone in the concourse at half time and called them an “idiot” for booing one of our own players so they threw their pint in my face, I’d be pretty angry but would I expect them to be arrested and eventually sent to prison?

Of course not.

I wouldn’t have a different view.
Much like I don’t think someone throwing a drink over someone in a pub should get a custodial sentence.

Does it?

Personally with prisons too full already what is the point of banging someone up for this? It's a milkshake, fine, compensate, sorted.
It did for the bloke who lobbed an egg at Corbyn a couple of years ago.

I don’t think she should’ve been sent to prison by the way, but there needs to be some consistency.

How long before the milkshake is acid, or the egg is a brick?
