that makes no sense whatsoever.

The perp had a knife
There was a charlie hebdo t-shirt

why must that = religious>

The person stabbed was a women - why isnt it a sexist crime?
The person stabbed was black - why ísn't a racist crime?
The person stabbed wear glasses - why isn't .......

Assumptions like this are no better than the assumptions of Anti Vaxxers
I was clear to say that the reason is unconfirmed in my post. My assumption is based on the Charlie Hebdo shirt and all the sadness and uproar that has been caused following those events.
My assumption may well be wrong, thats why i used that word. We all make assumptions every day, sometimes we are right sometimes we are wrong. I think it unlikely on the balance of probabilities she was attacked because of wearing spectacles or for being female, It may be a racist crime, it may prove to be all sorts of things, we may never find out. I agree nothing can be ruled out until the attacker is hopefully caught and dealt with by the justice system.

The police immediately said don't speculate on the motive for the attack until the full facts are known. Sounds sensible to me.

looking at the video above, it looks like this was some form of protest event, I see a big sign with something about God on one side, and something about Russia on the other.

What I don't see is anything that shows this was a religious incident. My assumption would be that some nutter who didn't agree with the event, or what was said at the event, and attacked

It may end up being that, but as I say, no evidence to confirm....yet

Yes I also cannot believe we have to view an incident through the platform of someone with a big and really dubious agenda - and someone that clearly seems to be a voice of some and definitely not others in Wales.

loads of folks come with banners about a whole host of different subjects, pro palestine, pro Israeli, christian fundamentalists, flat earthers, conspiracy theorists, staunch conservatives, lanour, green.. etc etc

I don't mean it negatively.

But when groups are gathering with posterboards and cameras, they are usually protesting something, because they are pro something else.

what was the topic for this group at speakers corner?

BTW I say it was a group, it may well not be, just what it looked like in the video.

I’m not sure what that particular group were talking about.. it’s quite possible they the banner relates to something else entirely.

Hatun Tash (the woman that was stabbed) is quite well known at Speaker's Corner and is a prominent critic of Islam/The Quran
