Will we sell Tav?

Allegedly 3 or 4 clubs looking at him - £10 million? I really hope there isn’t any truth in this. However the longer the Spence saga continues we could be desperate for funds - something the club have denied saying money in is not stopping us signing players . Really?

Our inability to add to the 3 signings is a concern. We had stated we wanted to get our business done early. Hmmm

To me, we can’t allow anyone( apart from Spence and those told to find a new club) to leave.

No doubt some will be over this thread claiming there is plenty of time for signings. We had this line spun last year- and look at the poor return we got from incoming loan players.

Can't see it. Hasn't Wilder already said how much he rates him and needs him in the team. Or am I making that up?

Theres not a chance Tav will go. I imagine even if we were offered 20 million we would turn it down. Getting replacements in has been a long difficult process so far, i doubt we would want to try and replace him.

And im not saying he is worth that much but replacing him at this stage would be difficult i think.

Maybe only if spence doesnt go would we entertain it.

The market has been slow generally. Of course we wanted to do business early, everyone does, but the reality is some will probably be done fairly late, i don't think it's worth worrying about.

Sure I've read Wilder saying the key players, fry, tav were definitely mentioned, are not for sale and it would take ridiculous money. 20 mill+ I think? For us to sell.

The club would be mad to accept a £10m offer, the young kid from Swansea went for £12m one decent season lewis -potter from Hull for £16m one half decent season, Tav seems to be a bit of a marmite character and I do believe his stats for goals and assists should be better, he has been an every present for the last 4 years and has improved each year.
The fee needs to be on par if not better than the fee we are commanding for Djed as he has had a half decent season but is not as consistent or influential as Tav.

There's not a chance Tav is leaving for £10 million. I get the impression from Tav that he's wholeheartedly committed to us. His reaction after Preston was great to see.

If Flynn Downes is worth £12 million then Tav is worth £20 million easy. He's been a consistent starter in the championship for 3 years now and is getting better and better. Not to mention he can play CM/AM/LWB/RWB/RM/LM and do them all well.

He's pivotal to us next season and unless we get a huge sum he's going nowhere.

I think the lack of progress in the marker is because we're aiming for players from PL clubs who have the divine right to wait until they've got replacements in before they sell/loan and if they don't then tough.

Spence deal isn't the be all and end all of them ur window.

Next 10 days I reckon Steffen, Muniz, Smith will sign. For our main attacking targets I'd imagine the Spence deal will trigger a £8-£12 million striker coming in, Gyorkeres

I don't think we are selling him.
If we somehow did get an offer that we cannot refuse, then don't we already have a ready made replacement in McGree?

Can't see it, not when there's 2 years left on his contract.

If we're not promoted this season, I think he'll be off in the summer and fair enough.

Tavernier is a good Championship midfielder.
£15m is a lot to turn down for him IMHO.

It is a slight concern just how many players we need to recruit, without adding to that the need to replace both Tavernier and Payero.
We are 8 short as it is.

Everton want gibbs White for £25m ruling them out IMO
Forest already spent big and looking at Obrien and Toffolo at £15m + which May rule them out leaving
AFCB and Liecester , both could be in for him .
£15m and he will go with my blessing .
Good player and top lad . Will take some replacing .

I don’t get players who are overrated because they have a lot of energy - fundamentally he lacks a footballing brain before we even start on his corners. Could be proved wrong but he doesn’t seem to have improved , there will come a point where it’s just not gonna happen for him.

He's much better than that FatCat.
He is an excellent player without the ball. His energy, covering, closing down and drive are massively missed when he doesn't play.
He is not the best passer of the ball, his decision making is sometimes odd and he will never be a goalscoring midfielder, but he is still a bloody good Championship midfielder.

Agree with most of that, I think he needs to turn the goalscorer of good goals tag to a goalscoring midfielder if possible. If he could chip in with 7 or 8 this season and crooks with 11 or 12 I would be very pleased. As you say though, Tavs best work is in other areas.

I think Tavs the sort of player managers like. If you have a player like Clayton you've got to include an attacking player like Tomlin to balance out his weaknesses. Tav gives you both in one package.

In a way it's one of the things I don't like about modern football. I think there are more all-rounders, but talents like traore who have exceptional skills in some areas but big holes in their game lose out.
