Joe Biden has mixed up a living politician with a dead one for the second time this week.

The US president referred to the late German chancellor Helmut Kohl instead of former chancellor Angela Merkel while detailing a 2021 conversation at campaign events on Wednesday.

Doesn't sound he's on top of his brief 😁

What's that got to do with his ability to debate?

Meanwhile Trump STILL makes reference to him beating Obama in 2016...which obviously didn't happen.
 
Prior to the debates he will have to go through hours and hours of briefing, facts, figures, names and places so on and so on. A lot more briefing than he would have had this week in which got peoples names wrong, he either doesn't take much notice or he can't actually remember. To me it doesn't strike me as someone who is going to be up a lengthy debate on top of his brief, I imagine Trump doesn't bother to do anything briefing and just shows up and says whatever he likes, whether that is right or wrong, doesn't really bode well for a good debate anyways, unless it turns into a comedy sketch, which to be fair, it might

Do you honestly think Biden's debating skills have deteriorated that much since 2020?

Joe Biden has been in politics a hell of a lot longer than Trump, he would wipe the floor with him (again.)
 
His debating skills may well be exactly the same level, I’m not convinced his brain is though. Time will tell I suppose
 
As far as I an tell both Biden and Trump have periods of clarity but drift into senility more and more as the weeks pass. What a desperate situation that this is all that is in offer, especially on the Democrat side.
 
The Right will obviously jump on this and call deep state bias, point out that Biden is old and say it should exonerate Trump, but there was clearly intent on Trumps behalf.
Biden is old, but he and his party are on the side of democracy, or at least what passes for democracy in the US. Trump is running simply to try and stay out of prison and to continue grifting. Part of that grift is to stay in power indefinitely and to do that he has to overthrow democracy. If he won the presidency he would at some point face a Democratic majority in both houses and be impeached again for yet more crimes. The only way he can avoid that is by becoming a dictator and despite his base being happy to accept that, the majority of Americans will resist it.
When it comes down to it, I honestly believe that Trump and his policies will lose again as he has consistently done since his surprise win in 2016.

I'd take Biden over TrumpleThinSkin any day but he does not come across well at all a lot of the time.
The orange idiot is jst as bad but as said his constant threats, bluster and nonsensical wittering are celebrated by his cult

I can’t believe he has the ability given his mishaps to be on top of a really thorough brief. I imagine another gaff will come in the live debates as I just don’t think he has the capacity to prepared to that degree. Trump doesn’t care so he will just show up and say whatever he likes

I don't know thorough details on the laws when it comes to US general elections etc, can the Democrats not come up with any decent candidate at all to run against Trump or can it only be Biden or his VP if he is ruled not to be fit for Presidential duty??

Biden used to be very good at his job but his age has clearly taken it's toll, and the fact he beat Trump at the age he was then, there's got to be a better choice to make sure Orange doesn't get back in??

I don't 'hate' Trump as such, I certainly dislike him as a person and do not want to judge Americans for continuing to insist this man is there to represent them (I truly don't get it, sorry .. but not being an American citizen, that is the only reason I can say I can't understand them, at all .. but from the outside looking in, what the Hell are you thinking??)

As mentioned above, he's a world-class grifter and doing it to stay out of the big house. Once he is re-elected, scenes like January the 6th will seem like a day out at Disney Land. He will not have any interest in those who elected him or their needs, he'll be using his position of power to hurt those who've rightly collared him for doings that are entirely his fault. He is like a child. There'll be more Michael Cohens due for a stretch.

I watch old interviews of him. At least he showed a little class then and is a lot more intelligent when it comes to the political process nationally and globally than I realized. So well done Donald. Maybe it is just me and he has fooled me with his simpleton act.

But as a senile old whinging b****d, hell-bent on dragging everyone down with him ... I just do not trust a man of that mindset only getting older being the desk in the Oval for God knows how long.

He wasn't that bad when he was younger. Or certainly did not appear to be, anyway, when you see him in decades older interviews. He came across as a lot smarter, considerate, and more articulate.

Now he is just a whinging old b****d with not a shred of thought for anyone else but himself and his golden toilet seats. I don't get the appeal.

What a ***** state of affairs the world has ended up in. We don't elect real politicians anymore. Places like Russia must be howling at how bad a mess things are in the West, only worsening as time goes by ... Brexit, Trump, Biden ... then Trump II
