Will McNair get that red rescinded?

I haven’t seen it properly but is that why he was late ? Was he fatigued as it doesn’t sound an inkling of red mist .

No I would say he got the ball. But it’s the fact he has left both feet off the ground that makes me think it won’t be overturned in today’s game.

Hopefully it’s payback time for the howler we suffered against Blackburn . We’ve suffered a few this season so the league owe us one big time after Fry got kicked in the head and we should have played against 10 men nearly all game

I don’t think it will best we can hope for is they may see it as a yellow - can they do that?

whilst I agree he is probably our best player I’m sure we can have a good go without him.

Never a red card, but I could see them upholding it given the still frames look more incriminating than it was.

Hopefully Fry to come in but my worry is that he will then play on the left side of the 2/3. He was asked to do that last year and was awful at it, looks petrified bringing the ball out of defence

I would move Dijksteel to that side. Other than that you could play Bola there and play Johnson left wing back and then drop one of Fisher or Dijksteel but that seems harsh

Must admit in the heat of the moment I initially questioned if it was even a foul but having calmed down and reviewed the replay, straight red all day long and an appeal isn't worthwhile. Regardless of if we won the ball it pretty much meets the definition of serious foul play:

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

No chance , no intent but studs up and it wasn’t but it could have been dangerous . Once upon a time no problem , but these days tut tut.

btw - it was the linesman who gave it and I’m getting to think the reason we’re getting nothing is that NW gives the officials such a torrid time all game.

We love him and he isn’t going to change at 72 but he does himself or the club no favours . These guys are humans and they’re bound to think ‘ I’m a **** am I . here you go sunshine have a bit of this ’ .
The ref was going straight for the red card, but then waited before the player recovered before finally showing it. I was hoping he'd changed his mind.

I wondered if we had wronged that linesman in another life. It looked like he had it in for us from the start. Perhaps it was the grief he was getting from the bench that riled him. He looked very pleased with himself when he ruled Hall’s goal out for offside. Not sure how he could have seen the McNair incident clearly, if he did, he must have ruddy good eyesight!

I think there might be something in that. Refs in general want to be seen to apply the laws regardless of stick from players, managers and fans, and I think the nonsense Warnock gives them will tend to work the opposite of how he wants it to.

He may be a psychological genius and know that he's getting nowt either way so he might as well encourage the Ferguson siege mentality in his team. Or he may be a stroppy idiot who doesn't know how ridiculous he looks screaming in the face of a bloke whose job is to do the paperwork for the substitutions.

Some people must be living in 1989 if they think this will be rescinded.

Really hope I’m wrong but he wasn’t in control and had studs showing. You also can’t take the ball and man anymore either.

It's interesting there is a clear divide between red card v no foul at all. For me, I thought it was a reckless challenge and when he lunged the ball was in the open. I don't think that allows him to lunge like that. The attacker is clearly going to try and play the ball, He was contacted with studs up. It's a red card and there is no chance that it will be rescinded. I can even see an additional game being imposed if we appeal it.

It was a two footed challenge which I don't think are permissible these days.....so it's a straight red for me. No chance that it will be rescinded !
