Why are sky obsessed with bielsa

Absolutely hilarious and ludicrous that he was one of the final 3 candidates for FIFA's manager of the year award.

- Klopp, a manager who won the Premier League.
- Flick, a manager who won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League
- Bielsa, a manager who got a team promoted from the second division at the second time of asking, breaking no records and losing plenty.
I thought this as well. Couldn't believe it.

I do think Sky like to pick a story and then push it during the season, and Bielsa is the angle they've gone for this year.

Another example would be a club who were formed in the PL about 5 years ago. They were called Little Bournemouth. Apart from actually during commentaries, all Sky reporters referred to them as this.

Frank Lampard's Derby were another project for them. I guess it's just marketing really. Their job is to make people interested in what they have on show.

Sky want big full stadiums of choreographed acts.
Leeds and Newcastle make the list.
When Everton get their new stadium it will be the same.

They tolerate those who make the numbers up and patronise.
I have no doubt that Sky would love an 18 team PL that was made up precisely like this:

Manchester United
Liverpool
Arsenal
Manchester City
Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur
Leeds United
Aston Villa
Newcastle United
Everton
West Ham
Rangers
Celtic

Plus 5 others who float in and out initially welcomed, then patronised, before being tossed back into the second tier.

Must be bloody hard being a Leeds player, he gets his teams to graft like mad, press, press, press, counter directly, at rapid speed, it's extremely hard work and it will take it's toll. There's less of a margin to accommodate this at the top levels, which is why his teams start well but then fade. I don't actually think Biesla's won anything at the top levels?

The problem Biesla's going t have (and Leeds), is they will tire, badly, and they are already getting found out, especially defensively. They also massively lack experience, which is going to really hurt them in the second half of the season.

Bielsa took a slating on match of the day last night for getting tactics so wrong against Man U and not doing anything during the game to tighten up the midfield.

Ive been a fan of Bielsa but maybe like others before he is getting severely found out in the premier league.

Nah the Leeds love in was always going to happen. Same with the Geordies sky love to hype them up.
True... There was no such thing as a 'Toon Army' until Sky adopted Newcastle as their little project. Maybe they'll ring up Richard Keys and ask him to invent a catchy name for Leeds.
'The Entertainers'
'Everybodys second favourite club' etc

They've got Burnley at home and West Brom away in their next 2 matches.

If they get 2 or more points from those games, I'll believe they'll be ok. If it's one or less, I think they'll be right in it.

Did you know they even had their own bespoke sky news and sports app.

SKY Tyne and Wear

I’ve seen some stupid comments in here but that one has to take some beating.

As football is The only truly trillion dollar single sport on the planet but yes mate it’s a poor product. 🤔
The game of football isn't the product is my point.

"Trillion dollar sport" is a stupid metric in this regard. Real and Utd sell loads of shirts. Amazing. So do Zara. Nothing to do with the game of football. They generate loads of ad revenue, brilliant, so does the great british bake off. Nothing to do with football.

I am talking about the core game. Its just not that entertaining when separated from what i will call The Bumf.

The product you refer to is all of The Bumf around football: The team i like won. The team i dislike lost. The team close to my home won. Sky's upped its subscription fee. The team 40 miles up the road lost. Jim white has been perched above a ticker tape of player movements shouting at me for a week. Hashtag Pogba. Jesse Lingard doing a Fortnite Dance. Buy some merchandise. Punch a rival.

If football was the product we were consuming we wouldn't be paying a premium to watch the Boro. Well- maybe Warnock's lovely little lot. But i was there under Strachan and it certainly wasn't for the football.

Maybe you think this is the most stupid comment proffered to you on the whole of FMTTM. I think its stupid you dismiss an alternative view point of a game where men kick a piece of leather between a couple of posts and other men create a mystical world around it and engage in acts of tribalism in an attempt to fill that gaping hole in our lives where some kind of meaning used to be. Religion FC.

No judgement from me. We all have our ways of dealing with the human condition. I like the Boro too - im here aren't i.
