After the defection of my ante post selection Chris’s Dream this week, my main selection is KILDISART @ 40’s, jumps well, ran an eye catching race on his return after a long lay off over a trip short of his best, should stay and comes here a fresh horse who has form at Aintree, albeit over the Mildmay course, and on a lower mark than that win and his close second in the Ultima in 2020. Of the fancied horses I think Delta Work looks the most likely but there’s one horse whose form ties in with the best of them and is unbelievably well handicapped on his best form and that’s SANTINI @ 50’s, has always looked a dour stayer and has bags of Grade 1 form, has finished in front of Delta Work off levels every time they have met and could be the type to be rejuvenated by the unique test of Aintree; a good jumper, who if he can get into a decent rhythm and takes to the occasion could be absolutely thrown in here, 8th in the Gold Cup last time is not the worst form on show here and whilst there’s a risk attached at the price he’s worth chancing.
Good luck to all and let’s hope that all that set off return in one piece.
