Who will be the “experienced” coach we bring in?

Sounds like the guy. How does he deal with the keeper taking more interest in the paint on the post rather than the ball?

Have two of his defenders ever ran into each
Other leading to farcical scenes and the opposition grabbing a winner?
Not sure, but know he passed his nvq level 2, so if the club put him through level 3 and can always ask his tutor.

Cant see Carrick agreeing to it. Would totally undermine him. The time for an old head was when he first came. Hopefully Scott can convince Gibson that we need someone different.

Quite a few people keep telling us Carrick is a ‘great’ coach.
If that’s the case why do we need another one?
Because that's how football clubs typically operate? With a decently sized support staff. Managers like Arteta and Guardiola and Slot etc have plenty of assistants and coaches working with them.

I don't see how adding a coach undermines Carrick?

Are people expecting any decision like this, wherever this claim has even come from, to be another Robson/Venables situation or something rather than just adding... literally just a coach.

We do operate with support staff and always have done.
Woodgate (great coach at Bournemouth apparently)
Carrick’s brother (great young coach apparently0?
Leadbitter

What do we do - keep adding more?

Just a thought - maybe they just aren't as good as we want them to be

Or maybe there are gaps in their skillset or experience that need addressing?

There's more than one way one to skin a cat. Some clubs employ specialist attacking coaches. Some set piece coaches.

Steve Cooper whom many seem very keen on employed a coach to concentrate on out of possession stuff.

Does that make him a poor coach?

I don't know what he's like as a coach, but Big Dunc would certainly toughen them up. On the flip side, if he joined in training then our injury list from this season would look good in comparison.

We’ve clearly lost something when Danks left. Yes injuries have curtailed the last couple of seasons however when we were near to full strength in the previous season we were a much more confident and resilient outfit. If we conceded there was confidence we could turn it round, or if we went in front there was confidence we could counter and get a second. This season we have no mental strength at all even when we’ve had a strong team out.

Assuming MC is staying then at least one of Carricks brother, Woodgate or Leadbitter needs punting to the reserves or kids teams and a proper number 2 needs to come in.

We actually had one player pull out of a training session last season because he'd chipped a nail. He had to be carried off by two staff members.

If Big Dunc joined in a few of our players would end up going into early retirement.

Surely someone else must have seen Pien Meulensteen coming out of William Hills on Chorlton St, Stretford, clutching a slip with dad to Middlesbrough on it?

Oh, I agree it may be necessary.
I just think it is shameful it has taken 3 seasons to work this out

First season it didn't look like a problem.
Second season they'd not have felt any need to make a change as they'll have been judging on the fairly successful first season.

I'd say it's only this season where they've clearly ****ed up.
When Danks left, that was the opportunity and they either went for the cheap option or put too much faith in Carrick's choice to bring in his own brother.
