Whitby

Interesting,so after last orders that was it? What did people do? Drive drunk to Scarborough..
We did used to go to Scarborough every weekend with a designated driver!

I am from a little village just outside Whitby and @Redwurzel description is pretty accurate - we felt like out of towners! I think the parking problem is a relatively new thing. We didn't have such a problems back in the 80s and 90s.

The biggest change for me is winter. It used to be dead in winter. Now it's busy all year round.

we used to always go just before Xmas. 22nd, 23rd or so and it was very quiet.

these days the Xmas holidays are as packed as ever

love the place

Worked there for a few years a while back. Very very clicky town.... Great to visit but not a fan of teessiders

Did they support Scarborough back when they were in the league?
Mainly Boro fans or Leeds? Leeds would make no sense to me at all.. But

Back in the day it was mostly Leeds. But when we started to have a bit of success from Rioch onwards I would say more even. There is s coach goes to Leeds every home match.

It used to be all the dodgy types who supported Leeds.

Haven't watched it yet, but one of my oldest pals from Uni days did the music for this series, so I'll have to give it a watch.

That’s like us only we normally go just after new year it’s brillisnt in the winter as you say nice and quiet

Like a lot of tourist places it ends up "killing the golden goose". I really don't like going anymore and the last few times I couldn't get away quick enough due to the crowds.......................but then, I was also one of the tourist crowd o_O

It lovely if you are actually staying in Whitby but not near the crowds. We sometimes go to an apartment which is on the other side further down from the Middle Earth (if that's still there). After the crowds have gone it's nice to walk around in relative peace and quiet

my fav place in the whole world..... love it for a days wander around and the Fish and Chips at Trenchers WOW
Only on a wet cold day. Any other time its too rammed.
Friends of ours live there. During the first lockdown visitors were wandering round with buckets to use instead of the locked public toilets. Lovely.
