Where would you like to live for 3 months?

I've always fancied following England Cricket for a winter season... Aus & or NZ... esp NZ.. time enough to explore both islands & both culture & language should be ok... plus they drive on the correct side of the road.. ;-)

My other half, son (and at the time unborn second son!), travelled across Canada for a month back in 2018 as a joint 40th birthday present to ourselves. Although we loved everywhere we went Montreal was our absolute favourite, lovely waterfront area and the park up the top of the mountain range was great with spectacular views. Just so much to do there and even poutine tasted great!

If I was going to go anywhere new for 3 months it would be Nova Scotia, Canada. Heard so much about it from the natives while we were in Canada, sounds like a truly beautiful place and very relaxing.
Another interesting point. I would love to go there too but part of me wonders if it would just be like Northern Scotland.. Could you go for 3+months?

New York you have to eat out every day too.

As ex in the city will tell you, New Yorkers use ovens purely for storage!

Sorry, but that's nonsense! Many people do eat out regularly, but to say you have to every day is rubbish. Don't forget I'm married to a new yorker! I've been well over 30 times myself and we mostly eat in at Mrs Fufkin's apartment which she still has and lets out to a friend. We have dozens of friends in Manhattan and Brooklyn and many of those eat out no more than folk do here, some of them are on very big salaries too so could easily afford to. They get meals delivered quite often, but the vast majority of our friends and family cook at home, especially those with kids. Happy hour for after work drinks is more prevalent, and that can turn into dining out, but you do not have to eat out every day

Iguaçu Falls are absolutely stunning, I’ve seen them from both sides of the river and i marginally prefer the view from the Brazilian side, but either way they are spectacular.
I've seen Iguazu from both sides too and you really do have to.
Devil's Throat is phenomenal, but the hole thing is jaw dropping.
Das Cataratas Hotel on Brazillian side is inside the Park and from there you can walk down and have the place to yourself on the Brazillian side after the buses leave or before they arrive.
Awesome is way over-used, but IF are awesome.

Yes I lived in London for 20 years and loved the buzz but wait until you get to my age :)

Next time you're in a city take a look around - you don't see too many older people, right?
Oh absolutely. When I get older and we have kids we’ll be out of here.

Although the discussion as to where we go isn’t going well!

Hold the time you phone. Are you telling me Sarah Jessica Parker lied to me???

Fish, ha why? There's no where you think would be interesting to see and experience?
To be more serious I'd fancy Scandinavia. Like the idea of being in the mountains and fjords and seeing what life was like in a place that seems to have its priorities better aligned than here. Summer obviously. The one thing that'd put me off a permanent move would be the weather - coldness but more so darkness (the same issue I have with this country).

I'd love to live somewhere where you can be guaranteed to get out after work every day, and eat in the garden for months on end without worrying about sleet. In this country we can have a few weeks of "acceptable" weather before I suddenly remember that eating out and BBQing is actually a thing I can do. I'd like it to be the norm rather than a novelty.

In one of those beach huts in the Maldives - stunning water, I could live there for three months

What was it like?
Brilliant. I got lucky with the weather but the views across the bay are really good. I also managed to use pidgin Spanish to negotiate a stadium tour of Anoeta.
Better people then I can describe the culinary experience but I really enjoyed doing a “pintxos “ bar crawl. Where you bar crawl based on the snacks in each bar rather than the ales. The food seemed exceptional to me. If it wasn’t such a pain to get to (nearest major town is Biarritz, in a foreign country, and because of the mountains no rail network) I’d probably go back for more

Midway Island.

It's off limits to everyone now, and it's a nature reserve.

Apparently it's still like it was in 1945, with plenty of relics of the 1942 battle which ultimately decided both the war in the Pacific, and indirectly the war in Europe.
