Where would you like to live for 3 months?

Every time i read Stephen King the town/city? Of Maine comes up dunno wtf it is but i wanna go.

Midway Island.

It's off limits to everyone now, and it's a nature reserve.

Apparently it's still like it was in 1945, with plenty of relics of the 1942 battle which ultimately decided both the war in the Pacific, and indirectly the war in Europe.
What about bikini atoll?

In all seriousness... apparently bikini atoll has amazing marine life

Tahiti.

Looks absolutely stunning, but it's on the opposite end of the world and would be completely outside of my price range otherwise.

But I've already been to France, so it may be excluded under your criteria.

If not there, I'd fancy Buenos Aires as well.

If you're over that way I'd highly recommend the Cook Islands.

Australia, went for a month a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it but spent most of the time touring, would love to have combined this with a bit more leisurely approach over a few months.

On a related note I was reading about the nuclear tests conducted by the US after WW2 and they used surrendered German Cruiser Prinz Eugen in two tests, it survived both but after Test Baker it was towed to Kwajalein Atoll where it capsized and is still there to this day. Two years ago the US Navy pumped the last of the oil from the tanks and tested the wreck for radiation. You can see the wreck on Google Maps satellite view.

Maine is a state, not city, and it's a very interesting one at that. I'm fact most of the NE corner is. Some really interesting historical places to visit: Jamestown, Plymouth (where Plymouth rock is, the first time the settlers put their feet on American ground) and my favourite place up there which is Newport. Have a walk along 'the breakers' to see the enormous residencies of the Vanderbilt's, the Onassis's etc. Very wealthy town with some very famous visitors. It's where paul McCartney keeps his yacht amongst others. Also has the white horse tavern, the oldest continually operating drinking hole in the states, now also a fine dining restaurant. My brother in law happens to be executive chef there

It's not all that impressive in real life is it ? I don't know what I was expecting like.....

It's not to be fair, it is after all just a rock. 😁Still, some of the towns around the area are lovely, a complete antidote to the crazy of NY which I find appealing. Boston would/will be where we eventually end up. Big enough, but not too big
