Where has the word "Bantz" popped up from

Give it a look, it's very good, albeit a bit dated now. Still a decent movie though about how a kid with a bit of computer knowhow causes mayhem within the US military,
Ta, but I don't do fillums. I wasted a couple of hours of my life once because everyone said Withnail and I was really great. It wasn't.

Blame Millennials and their 'txt speak', it would seem that everything is too much hard work for them.
It used to be the shortening of SMS and this has now found its way into the spoken word, Bants, Deets, Obvs, etc, etc.

I wonder if our parents & Grandparents had similar issues with what our generation did growing up?
Maybe its just a sign of getting older?

Reality TV has a lot to answer for. I remember Joey Essex calling something "reem" so everyone started using it.

My Missus always says her eyebrows are "on fleck/fleek" she's nearly be divorced a few times.

My one year old has just started to make a roarr noise when he has his dinosaur toy, so you heard it here first that will be the next big thing amongst the younguns.

Language has always evolved, and always had people resisting that change as they're not part of the group of people at the center of the change.

Imagine back in post-war Britain and the evolution of the teenager, imagine what the older generation had to say about those young hepcats with their long hair and short skirts talking in a strange slang, honed in the coffee bars and influenced by the American forces, jazz music and the streets of swinging London.....

It's been around since at least the Mid-2000s - I'm a 'Millennial' and it was well-used at school

I can't stand that 'cheeky' thing, in particular that fat tongued half wit Jamie Oliver.

"I'll add a cheeky splash of olive oil to my cheeky little pan and I'll grab my cheeky little bacon and give that a cheeky little fry while I chop up some cheeky herbs fresh from my cheeky window box"

Eff off Jamie you bell end

I quite like Jamie and some of his recipes but this post made me laugh out loud! 🤣

I can't stand that chav put on language
Hasn't the core East London white British working class population just been pushed out to Essex? Today's Essex girl is yesterday's "Nancy" if you will. East Londoners were coming out with loads of daft dialect aswell, see Cockney Rhyming Slang.

This is just the next wave of it I would assume, except they get brought up in Brentwood now instead of Bethnal Green

So what does it mean? I'm interested now
Bantz is short for Banter - it's generally used i've found when someone says something offensive, knowing they've upset someone... instead of simply saying sorry..... it's "Bantz" - meaning they were joking to 'save face', but really they probably weren't joking

If that makes sense - haha, it's a terrible word
