He didn't have a save to make because our strikers didn't get on the end of the balls we were chucking in. Defenders first to it every time.
Yes we need a creative midfielder. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
We don't have creativity in the team so we knock balls into the box. But we don't have strikers who can win the ball in the air.
This is what happens when you flip flop between managers with different styles.
I agree that the squad is a mismatch of formations and styles and massively unbalanced but the quality isn’t there. The one thing that’s consistent the past four managers is we don’t create enough and we don’t score enough. We are slow and laboured in midfield and too often the final ball is poor. The biggest consistent factor the last few years is the lack of investment in any thing other than hard working central midfielders. We lack pace, we lack a spark and we lack a player that can consistently put decent crosses into the box. Against Watford we lacked any natural width as Spence barely got past the half way line and Johnson managed about 2 crosses in the last 20 minutes. You are acting like we bombarded Watford with cross after cross when in reality we spent most the game dominating possession but knocking it around in central mid or just outside of their area whilst they sat back knowing we couldn’t break them down. Our best chance was probably when Fletcher lifted the ball over their defender on the right, he probably should of done better but he had to create that out of nothing by himself. Next you will be blaming Britt and Fletcher for not getting on the end of Tavs corner that went out for a goal kick
