What's up with Fletcher?

All strikers depend on service, we don’t create enough. It’s not as if he’s missing chances.

For me Tav is the problem, he’s in a position that has the freedom to roam and create. He’s much more suited on the flanks cutting in. Someone like Roberts or Macus Maddison behind the strikers would do better. I think Maddison would be perfect in that role, he has so many assists from through balls the last few years.

I only learned yesterday that Luke Freeman had been loaned out to Nottm Forest.
Pity. He would've been a far better fit for us in that role.

Fletcher for me offer very little if anything outside of the box. I think he is too lightweight tbh. He is arguably our best finisher of chances, but we need more from someone like him. As for tav, out wide, he lacks pace and isn’t a winger. I think he is an attacking CM or play in a 4-3-3 on the right cutting in. However we don’t have the fullbacks as yet for 4-3-3. Coulson, Johnson and Spence can’t defend that well. Djiksteel could play the RB role. We desperately need a proper LB so we can play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 if needs be, to get the best from Tav imho

3412 could work with the players we’ve got. Tab could be the 1, or a Roberts type signing.

Fletch/ Akpom, Britt
Tav/ new signing
Johnson/coulson, Morsy/Howson, Sav/McNair, DJed/McNair
Fry/new signing, Hall/Fry, Dijksteel/Wood
Keeper

I have always thought there was a player in Fletcher waiting to get out. As time moves on, the less I think this is the case. He just does not have the attributes to be a 15 - 20 a year goal scorer. Time to move him on.

They aren't chances because the strikers aren't in a position to score or they don't have the strength to win the header.

Agree, Pulis used to spout the same old stat too, the reality is the quality of crosses are generally hopeful, poor rather than accurate, Britt is only 5’9” and can’t leap like a salmon and Fletch is weak. Fletch is ok if its directly on his head, but lacks the physicality against most CB’s to properly challenge say like a Jutkiewicz would.

I think that we've seen enough to realise that he's only average and we should be looking elsewhere. Let's hope that the new forward is better than his record shows, but give him a chance, Fletcher has had his.

Some were, plenty of good ones. Same v Watford.

Watford? Did we watch the same game? Other than tipping over Brits free kick their keeper didn’t have a save to make and I don’t remember us being wasteful in front of goal. Our crossing, our final ball is woeful but it has been for years. We constantly buy strikers and throw millions at them but Browne and Johnson are the last two attacking mids we bought and one of those is playing wing back, prior to that it was Downing and Traore and neither is still at the club!

Since relegation we’ve spent close to £25m on our current strikers, probably £20m+ for Howson, Saville, McNair and Morsy, during the same time we’ve probably spent less than £5m on the likes of Johnson and Browne.

He didn't have a save to make because our strikers didn't get on the end of the balls we were chucking in. Defenders first to it every time.
Yes we need a creative midfielder. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

We don't have creativity in the team so we knock balls into the box. But we don't have strikers who can win the ball in the air.

This is what happens when you flip flop between managers with different styles.

Poor crossing from both Spence (dithers to much) and Johnson ( put to much on most of them could have been the wind) . Answer = practice till the cows come home, talk to forwards and demand as well.
