Whats going on at Marske United?

Can only see this going one way and club going under unfortunately, obviously not the players fault but how many players on good money per week could maybe take a 50% pay cut to keep the club alive!!

How will that effect relegation / promotion?
Would it also mean that all previous games played against Marske will be made null and void?
A few of the league will be well pzzd off if that happens

We've got a team in the Northern League, Brandon Utd, who have indicated that they're resigning. It's becoming a common occurrence unfortunately.

It does seem to be, and in answer to the earlier question, it is pretty much routine that the record gets expunged, so so I guess that would happen to Marske if the worst ensues.

It just seems that clubs in the lower leagues now overreach at times, more so than they used to. We used to lose clubs in these divisions before, but it was usually because Lord Ponsonby Smythe had failed to renew the lease on the ground so he could build on it or Ronnie Dodgy Convict had petrol bombed the clubhouse over a drugs dispute. Financial overreach is a new phenomenon, but seems to be at the bottom of both Brandon’s problems and Marske’s.

I know nothing about the workings of football but I would have thought that there must be someone in the FA who is there to assist the lower league clubs with something like this?
Also , if they were given legal advice then..........that may be negligent .
Also , how can they go from functioning in the league and suddenly not being allowed to play? That seems an excessive punishment unless there are other factors at play.

It's not confined to the lower leagues, what happens if Lord Ponsonby-Gibson suddenly disappears?

Lack of volunteers saw off one decent level team last year in Sunderland CW (formerly Ryhope CW).

You can have as many volunteers in the world but if the wrong owners get their hands on you, then you are gone. You only have to look at what happened at South Bank United and the mystery fires.

Everyone knew who did it, it just couldn't be proved.

Let's hope Marske United can now move forward.

I live in Marske and go every now and again. I was surprised the way clubs at this level run the squads. I had always thought that it was largely local players.

The transfer system works just the same as it does up the leagues with the club paying transfer fees and wage, competing for players across the country.

Seems bonkers to me and the opposite of what I thought the ethos of clubs like Marske should be about.
