What would you class as a successful season under Warnock?

There isn't that much between the top and bottom of this division, which is why you get so many "crazy" results.

Any of the 18 remaining teams could be in the top 6 next season with the right few signings, the right organization and mentality. Finding those things is, of course, much harder.

That said, if we finished in the top half next year, I'd feel that some solid progress had been made.

Play offs should be our min requirement- we were only 17 points off it this last season, when you look at a team like Millwall missing out by 2 points, we should be up there every season

You make a good point

Looking at the teams coming down and the teams that have gone up, I must say, next season is a great opportunity to get inside that top 6.

Bournemouth/Norwich/Watford don't scare me.

Norwich are a mess
Bournemouth and Watford will have mass sales to reduce their potential debt.

There's no one in this league I think can 'run away with it' next season.

I think it could be very close.

No reason with the right man in charge - Warnock - and a few shrewd signings in the window, we can't push for top 6.

Our away form under Warnock has been incredible and hopefully he manages to sort our home form out to give us the platform to push on.

I don’t see any point in a 1 season contract, 2 seasons would see him wheel and deal 2nd season if all goes well at least play offs will be his aim.
Build a side next season and stay up anything else is a bonus. He’s not a miracle worker but staying up this season was a major feat imho.

Depends if he is backed in the transfer market or not.
If he gets the players he wants, then I would hope that we can make the playoffs or be close to the playoffs. If however he does not get the backing he needs then we can't expect miracles.

Getting promoted via the play offs. Don't get me wrong, that would be a huge leap compared to this season and it may not be realistic, but i don't think you can class anything else as success. What would be the "minimum acceptable" would probably be some sort of challenge to the play offs or top 10

Play offs at least.

The division is there fore the taking. Whichever one of Brentford or Fulham will be up there, but there's no other team that looks that good. Norwich will be decent.

If - and it's a massive if - we can get some semblance of a decent starting 11, then there's nothing stopping us.

I'm really excited about the summer. With no Gestede, Ayala, Clayton etc there's room in the wage bill to get in players who will want to play for us. We're a big draw, so is Colin, we should he able to get the bodies we need. Ideally a bit of quality too

No reason we shouldnt be able to finish in the top 6

Thats a bold statement given how the squad stands atm. I agree with ticker_tape that one season is nowt nor summat. So he is staying a year then off, is his backroom staff going to be out of a job in 12 months as is usual case with management changes. He is going to come in change things around followed by someone else changing things around no doubt. Another mistake by Gibson I'm afraid. There will be a lot of squad changes this year and would have preferred him to bring ins someone for a longer period that can bring some stability to the club. I would even have gone with bringing someone in to work with Warnock with the idea that they seamlessly take over. Don't particularly fancy Blackwell in that roll though.

One other thing I worry about is that he will bring in a lot of old heads who will be past their sell by date after he has gone and will create more issues down the line.

I suppose in truth I’d be a bit disappointed if we didn’t finish in the play-offs next season. But I wouldn’t get on NW’s back about it, I’d still make excuses for him and defend him to the hilt like I did with Pulis and most of our other managers. 😬

That wouldn’t be like you atypical ;)

To be top 10 we would need 11 more points, or 3 wins and 3 draws more than we got. Doesnt seem like a huge stretch even for the current squad

In the 8 games Warnock was in charge he got 1.5 points per game, over the course of this last season that would have us finishing 8th

So with even 3-4 more players we should be looking at the play offs

He is starting from a very poor base. It all depends on recruitment for me. I see the press are talking about four or five signings through the spine. Personally I think we should be looking at double that, including width and pace, to do that we will need to sell the likes of Britt, Paddy and George (Saville) If we rake in around £12M-£15M then I think its doable, we will need 2 or 3 decent loans mind. If the club get the recruitment right for a change, signing players with pace, experience and at the back, strong, dogged defenders then a top 6 finish is achievable. The easy bit is identifying targets, the hardest job will fall on Gibson and Bausor to sign them midst a pandemic with money being tight all round.

I would be happy with a top half finish, flirting with the play offs would be nice, but best not be too greedy until we have seen the standard of recruitment, anything else above that would be amazing. It really does depend on the hierarchy delivering on Warnock’s wish list though, there is much rebuilding needed.
