What the weirdest documentary/program you’ve watched on Netflix/amazon/iplayer etc - during the lock down

Ref Netflix - I find the quality of some non - English dramas spoilt a little by the English dubbing - I prefer English subtitles - it keeps them more authentic for me. I can be watching some Spanish drama set in Spain and the actors have corny American accents.

!00% I watched Dark, but was struggling to get into it dubbed, switched to German, loved it. It isn't the accents I have an issue with, the dubbing has hardly any of the emotional context that the original actor is trying to get across, it ruins the drama.

I agree but luckily They always include the option to revert back to the original language with subtitles.

The Staircase
Tiger King
Abducted in plain sight
Dont f***k with cats

Ones not on Netflix but worth looking for

The 75 (about police corruption in new york in the 80s)

Dark Days (about people living in disused train tunnels in new york

I got Amazon prime because I was having something delivered.
There's nothing on there I want to watch at all. Managed about 10 minutes of the man city documentary before reverting to top gear or whatever they call it.
I reckon channel 5 has more to offer

The 75 is a really good doc, well worth a watch if you can find the time.

I accept the ridiculousness of the last 6 words of the above 😔

The Boys is great if you like that sort of thing, Mr. Robot is great for the first couple of seasons and Sneaky Pete is worth a watch as well.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread but "Comrade Detective" is strangely genius. Also, although time has caught up with it, "Braindead" is an excellent comedy drama. "Hap and Leonard" is excellent too, though they cancelled it after 3 series, as they did with "Into The Badlands" which has a great cast and fight scenes, though not great writing.
Edit: Oh yes, they're all on Amazon Prime.

The reference below contains spoilers.............

Especially when the dad admits he gave the other bloke a hand job, it was a proper WTF moment.

Yeah it’s THE jaw drop moment of a series containing a lot of unbelievable incidents, thought the way it was underplayed in the production was very well done.

Not weird, but watched a doc on Netflix about the Cassini trip to Saturn....An absolute masterclass in science and engineering achieving what they did.

Thanks posters for the information about changing back to original language - I have only just started using Netflix.

Does using sub titles work for "Sunderland till I die" ?

The Expanse is outstanding sci fi.
Vikings
Taken
Treadstone
Jack Ryan
All decent enough. Some good films too.

I watched series 1 and 2 called "Rebellion" on Netflix- it was interesting for me.

If you like your history you make like this. Its a drama covering the period in Ireland from 1916 to 1922 (so far). It was a very dramatic time in Ireland, starting with the Easter Rising and series 2 finishes with the British Government agreeing to formation of the Irish Free State. Parts of Ireland were under military marshall law, nasty killings on both sides, lots of people working for the other side, secrets and blackmail, brother against brother.
