Not the most expressive player when it comes to celebrations, but you could see the release of pressure and tension, in the Captain, in the players, on the bench and in the stands.
That penalty conversion could well be pivotal in the way this season turns out.
The fist pump and the "dance" from a usually composed and pragmatic Jonny Howson said it all.
What was equally impressive was the sheer joy and release of tension at the end, when the ref eventually blew the final whistle.
How brilliant does it feel to see three points going up on that league table - against our name, our club, our team.
No journey home is shorter than when you`ve won and for Boro that win was sweet.
Clearly Grant Leadbitter had a part to play in that penalty - and from what Jonny says, Grant is learning Jonny about "leadership skills".
Wow.
What a relief.
Now its on to Bradford in the cup.......

You Got the first win in the league:
You know, we`ve been going through a tough time as a group, but this week we`ve said a few words – good words [everyone] and the message that come from it – what people wont see day-in day-out in training, is that everyone [has] stuck together. We have been disappointed and frustrated, angry, all those things, but [not] give up. Working hard, doing what we believe in as a team and as Management Staff and hopefully that [win] can now be the turning point.
The group go a goal down and stick together:
Yeah. It can be difficult. {Smile ] eye contact] We`ve got a young side. For some of them it might be the first time they`ve gone through a tough time regards results. Performances have been alright at times, been good, they`re things we can improve on. Results wise, which, lets be honest – thats what the game is all about – it ant` been going for us. We`ve got a young side and its a learning curve for them. Certainly if they show the attitude they have done through this one [match] it`l stand them in good stead for their careers and for us as a team going forward.
McGree goal deserved. Boro had been playing well:
We go a goal behind and….no body lies, you could feel the tension from the crowd, because they want us to do well. But everyone kept showing for the ball, everyone kept taking the ball, some made mistakes, but we kept going. I think they [the fans] could sense that. The goal obviously helps – it lifts everyone in the stadium [who] got right behind [the team]. We come in at half time in a good position. The team probably on the front foot. I think we took that into the second half. On another day we could of maybe had three or four, but I`l take two [big smile and laugh].

Yes. Grant [Leadbitter] had said to me...you know, I played under Grant…..with him Captain. He had a word with me before the game; thats the leadership skills staff have got their input. Not just the Manager, its Woody, its Danksy, Grants, Fets. They`ve all got an input. So, yeah…...I have to thank Grant for that one [smile].

Of course it is. I don’t want to start carried away and say this is going to be the turning point and stand here and say all sorts. We`ve got to get out now and carry on.
