What is wrong with people

Nobody of sound mind rich or poor attacks or hurts people or becomes a nuisance because its a choice. Its because they are fck upstairs, depression fueled by drink and the onslaught of readily available drugs. legal or not. Have you ever bought drugs during a night out Fatcat?
No

I don't think you can get much lower than attacking or sexualy assaulting some one trying to help you🙁

Drink or drugs can't be an excuse for not getting hammered by the law. The majority of fights etc come whilst drunk. It's not a defence. So it shouldn't be when attacking emergency services.

Whenever anything happens it seems to be 'he's on drugs' or 'he's maybe got mental health problems'. Just like unruly kids don't always have autisum or other issues. The fact is some people are just absolute scum bags. They actually quiet like being that way.

I've seen footage of kids attacking firemen in Liverpool. Why would anyone thinks it's a laugh attacking a fire engine trying to put out a fire🙁

They do it because they can. It's as simple as that. They 'know' there are no repercussions.

No dont agree with that. There are lots of crimes we could all commit and get away with but we dont because we think it is wrong.

Youre a nice Giles Frogmorten and probably a good guy but perhaps sheltered and lack understanding. Theres nothing a matter with that mind.

Its difficult not reacting - verbally or physically.
If you are assertive with the perpetrator and it works - people will say how much they support you.
If it turns...even colleagues look away because it happens every day and they feel powerless to change it.
You are more likely to get suspended by Managers who automatically assume its the professionals fault - and to save their arzes!
They sacrifice safety of patients and staff and dont give a schitt.
I`ve been on the end of that and seen it happen to others who have been smacked, assaulted and abused in the course of doing their duty.:mad::mad:

Is that comment aimed at me? I'm talking about a specific member of society who commit the same acts day in and day out with impunity. The sort of citizen that doesn't care about consequences and knows fine well that there are no consequences to face.

I'm not talking about good, honest people who are empathetic and who know right from wrong.

Respect starts when you're young and I'm not sure how you break the cycle. The best we can hope is that we can reduce the numbers who'll grow up into scumbags. We certainly don't have a government willing or capable of making the societal changes that will set us on a better path.

He’s trying to excuse it or blame everyone and anything EXCEPT the perpetrator. You are responsible for your own actions in this life,
If we can please just start this debate from the point of view that *nobody* here thinks it's ok for people to break the law in this way, it'll be a more reasoned and adult conversation. What we are talking about is root causes, not excuses.

These people normally get punished , but such is the state of our society there are more and more. Its getting worse, especially in the south of England. Time to go to football bye.

There always have been ****.. There always will be ****.. Most of us are lovely. There's a small percentage of ****. who have antecedents as long as your arm. We just need to keep them out of circulation and spend as little money on them as possible.

Sure I understand that but in countries where penalties for crimes are much higher they dont have less crime so there is more to it than just a lack of deterant.

I'm sick to death of picking up the gazette and reading that so and so is up before the judge for the 80th time. And he stands there smirking and flicking the v's on the way out. I stand by what I say. There is NO deterrent, so the same people replay the same crime over and over again with impunity.

I understand that and often feel the same but it does not get away from the facts that harsher penalties do not lead to less crime. Of course people should be punished and punished more the more times they do things but there is a wider problem with these people that needs addressing. Why do they not feel morally wrong commiting a crime? Is it because of society as a whole. As usual the answer probably lies somewhere between the two views e.g. we need some harsher sentences but also actions to address society level problems

Respect for others begins with self-respect.
Without that there is only the me-me-me ideology which has become embeded in the psyche` of our society for at least the last 40 years.
