It’s a tune etched on my memory as we departed the terraces at Ayresome. Sadly I don’t think even Bernard knew what it was. It must have been on vinyl if he played it in the 70s? That why I’m dubious it was some original music for a TV ad.It's the tune that Bernard Gent used to play as the fans left Ayresome after the match.
Allegedly it was an advert for Peugeot or some motor company
Yes I know that I should have added - hence me asking. As Cardiff says perhaps we will never knowDon't know its origins but it used to be played over the tannoys at Ayresome Park - certainly during the 1970s - about 5/10 minutes after the final whistle, if that helps?
Edit... ICI petrol has just popped into my mind. Think he may have said that... I'm going back over 30 years here. Not The Shuffle .
I spoke to Bernard about it one Thursday night at Cleveland Park, and he told me what I mentioned above. He said he thought the record might be in the loft.
It's definitely a library track. Probably originally a De Wolfe, or KPM library music album.
No its neither of those Van McCoy tracks. As Lemmy says its an obscure promo tune in Bernards collection. Hope one day we can find it.Do the hustle
